Hoping to find cemetery locations and obituries for William W. Barlow and wife Caroline E. Barlow of Conecuh Co Alabama. (Old Town?). Caroline Barlow died 4th of November 1921, Conecuh County. The only William W. Barlow I find in the death index died 26th Oct 1956, in Baldwin Co Alabama. (which would make him over 100 years old, if he is mine). I believe my William is son of Daniel Barlow and Anna Joiner, and grandson of Elias Barlow and Jane. Caroline's daughter, Sophronia Perdue married my great grandfather, George Grandbury Matthews.

I am looking for information on my great grandparents, Mason Barlow and Rebecca Anderson. I do know that she is buried in Frisco City, Alabama. My grandfather, Emmett Barlow, was their son. I know of at least two other sons named Joe and Stroud.  Does anyone have any information on him/her/them?    Note from Susan:  Rebecca's husband is Lewis, perhaps Mason Lewis, his father is Mason.

Of this union were born ten children: Johnnie Beulah, Jessie Lee, Elizabeth Jane, Hettie, Ida Ruth, Mary, Armstead, Jefferson Davis II, and William Sanders. I would like to learn more about Ida and the Barlow branch of my family.

I am researching Elias Barlow (born in NC about 1804, married to Jane ? (born in SC). They had moved to Alabama by late 1820's - had several children - one was Daniel born about 1834 who married Anna Joiner or Joyner. They had 5 children, William, Henry, George & Benjamin (twins) and Fannie. My grandfather was Benjamin and he married Roseanna Deason. They had 10 children and lived mostly in Conecuh Co Alabama.

I am lookin for Jane Barlow born 1814 in South Carolina. She is on the 1860 Baldwin Co Alabama census report. In my family tree, I have an Alex Barlow born 1834 married to Elizabeth Howell, born 1838 Georgia. They have six children including Jane Barlow born 1859 in Alabama. She is my Great Grandmother. Alex, Eliz, and Jane (at age 1) are all on the 1860 census record. I think Jane born 1814, may be Alex's mother.

I am looking for info on the family of Joice Barlow who married William Pollard March 01, 1820 in Mobile, Alabama. They had a daughter Susan Pollard b. 1822 who married Howard Hall. I have been unable to find any info on Joice's parents or siblings.

Joyce Kilcrease Barlow who married William Pollard in 1820 in Mobile, Alabama as a stepdaughter of Aron Barlow. Joyce married second to Edwin Morris Stapleton in 1832 in Baldwin County, Alabama. This info is from Betty Barlow Prescott of Bangor, Maine.

My great grandmother,  Lucy Carter Josey married Richard 'Dick' Wood Barlow in Vivian or Shreveport, Caddo Parish Louisiana in January of 1888.  I have that Richard was born 1842 in Alabama.
He and Lucy had children, John Thomas in 1889 & Winnie in 1892.  I always thought that they named John Thomas after my great grandfather, Lucy's first husband, John Thomas JOSEY.  Now, I think I was wrong for assuming that. Does anyone have any  info on this line of  BARLOWS?   I do have someone in  Shreveport - I am from there - who is working on this line, her Dad is Cecil BARLOW, son of John Thomas BARLOW.

Note from Susan:  I put together a lineage for the Richard Barlow  family    I would appreciate comments, suggestions, and any help I might get for putting together a lineage for these Isle of Wight families.
Paul Gill   invalid email      Merritt S. Barlow
I found Merrett S. Barlow in Lowndes County, Alabama in the 1850 census. By 1870,  he was in Tyler County, Texas,  had a wife,  Sarah age 35, a daughter, Mary age 14, a son, Benjamin B.,  age 9, a son, Thomas H. age 2, and a son Owin, age 1.    In the 1880 census  they  are again in  Tyler County, Texas and now  have another child, Winifred, age 9 who is my Grandmother. The 1900 census for Tyler County lists Benjamin B., his wife and children as well as  Thomas H., his  wife and children as well as his father,  Merrett and sister Owin. I had searched every place but Alabama for Merrett S. Barlow!  If anyone has additional information from either the ancestors or descendants I would appreciate your help.

I have not done too much on the  Barlow line but my Crocker lineage comes through Drury and Lucy Barlow Crockerfrom the Isle of Wight Virginia. They were married February 12, 1793 by Reverend William Hubbard with the consent of Anthony Crocker and George Barlow.  Drury and Lucy moved to Dallas Co Alabama about 1840 along with most of their family.

I have just recently become aware that my 2nd great grandmother's maiden name was Barlow.   She was Sarah A.'Sallie' Barlow, born November 24, 1837, in Wilcox Co Alabama.    She  married George L. Lamkin, born July 23, 1836, in Wilcox Co Alabama.  Sallie Barlow's father was Miles Barlow. The only information I have about Miles is what I gathered from the 1850 census of Wilcox Co Alabama.  Miles was 60 years old (born 1790), his wife was Lotty, 55 years old (born 1795).  Both stated they were born in Georgia.
I have checked with a couple of Barlow descendants that have ancestors from Georgia but no one seems to know anything about Miles. Sallie Barlow Lamkin and her husband George Lamkin moved to Ouachita Co Arkansas c1860 and are buried there.  If anyone has information that might help me or if I can be of help to you, please let me know.

'Clark Co Alabama and it's Surroundings'  by Reverend T. H. Ball shows reference to:  Daniel B. Barlow was a preacher on the Suggsville Circuit in 1836

Geralyn Barry  in Oregon    Maybe you know this already, but if you think he was Baptist and you are near Birmingham you should go to the  Samford University Library Special Collection.  They have a Baptist card index there and lots more...Baptist records, newspapers, etc.   They also have some Presbyterian records for some reason...The librarians in special collections  are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful.   I'm sure they would know where to look to check if he was a Baptist preacher.  When a Baptist preacher or anyone prominent in the church died, they usually had an obituary or memorial in  the Baptist newspaper.  These are included in that card index.  Some south Alabama Methodist records are at Huntingdon College in Montgomery.

Rebecca Anderson d/o Joel and Jane 'Middleton' Anderson was born in Monroe Co Alabama between 1852 & 1855.   In Deed of Sale in 1898 she was named as Rebecca Barlow in Wilcox Co Alabama.
Whom did she marry and when?

Danny Barlow    See:   Emmett Barlow and Alice Walthall

I have just started tracing the Barlows .. Emmet L. Barlow, born September 06, 1878 and died February 06, 1937. He was my great grandfather. The L in the name stands for Louis, I am sure .... Louis is popular family name. Emmett was married to Alice Walthall, born January 22, 1882 and died July 17, 1937. Both are buried at Palmer Cemetery in Wilcox County Alabama. My grandmother does not remember his fathers name, but I think he was from Monroe Co Alabama. Emmett and Alice had sons, Kenneth, Hubert Winston, Emmet Jr. (California) Robert Louis, my grandfather, James (Camden, Alabama) and one more that I can not think of. Emmet, Robert and Winston are buried at Palmer Cemetery in Wilcox Co Alabama.   Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
