Generation 4

HENRY4 BARLOW (John3, John2, Thomas1) was born 22 April 1808 in Wilkes Co North Carolina and died 09 December 1862 in Watauga Co North Carolina. Note: At least one source shows his full name to be John Henry Barlow He was a school teacher.

He married MATILDA KILBY 22 March 1832 in Wilkes Co North Carolina, daughter of ABRAHAM KILBY and ELIZABETH RASH

A marriage bond was issued in Wilkes Co on 14 January 1832 for Henry Barlow and Patsy Dula. The marriage apparently never took place. In March 1832, he married Matilda Kilby. They moved to Longhope Creek in Watauga Co North Carolina about 1845. Matilda was granted a letter from Reddie's River Baptist Church, Wilkes Co, in 1847 but it is not known to which church in Watagua Co she transferred.

viii.	FANNY MATILDA BARLOW born c1852. She married SAM BENNETT
ix.	DAVID E. BARLOW born c1857, may have died young, he is not found after the 1860 census.

Generation 5

1.	ABRAHAM5 BARLOW (Henry4, John3, John2, Thomas1) was born 28 January 1834 and died 09 February 1896. He married MARY GREER 01 April 1853 Johnson Co Tennessee. She was born 08 February 1835, and died 08 April 1885, the daughter of ALEX GREER.

Abraham enlisted in Co B, 37th Regiment of the Confederate Army. The family moved to Hendricks Co Indiana.

ABRAM BARLOW DEAD BROWNSBURG

Abram Barlow who lived in this vicinity for a number of years, died at the county poor farm Sunday. He had been at the institution about four months and had gone there of his own volition, making the arrangements, it is said, without the knowledge of any of his friends.

He had three girls and two boys living at various points of the state, none of whom were aware that he had taken up his abode in the poor farm until they received word of his death.

He was not a man of energy, but he possessed many of the elements of Christian character. He was Baptist, and those who knew him best give him credit for more than ordinary consistency.

His remains were brought to the Arbuckle Cemetery Tuesday, where after brief religious services were held, he was laid aay in the presence of a number of friends and all but one of his children. (The name of the cemetery has changed to Bethesda)

iv.	LOUISE BARLOW, born 1867 and died 27 January 1897, unmarried
v.	ROBERT SCOTT BARLOW, born 20 January 1870 and died 24 September 1889, unmarried.
vi.	ELLA M. BARLOW, born c1873. She married THEODORE BRUECKNER

2.	SARAH5 BARLOW (Henry4, John3, John2, Thomas1) was born about 1838 and died between 1900 and 1910. She married MARTIN WARREN.

According to the 1900 census, Sarah had 12 children, nine of whom where living at the time. She was not in the 1910 census, but Martin was shown as a widower, who had served in the Civil War.

3.	THOMAS JEFFERSON5 BARLOW (Henry4, John3, John2, Thomas1) was born about 1842. He married 1.) NANCY CAROLINE POTTER, widow of GEORGE DOTSON. Nancy and George had Mary Dotson who married Jonathan 'Bud' Osborne He married 2.) SARAH PRESNELL Thomas and Sarah had no children.

1930 Marion Co, Indianapolis, Indiana (Josephine is widowed) I cannot seem to find this family listed in 1900 census or earlier. Since they were married in Boone Co Indiana in 1885 I am assuming there MUST be more children than I have listed because of the length of time between the marriage date and 1st child listed.

THOMAS B.7 BARLOW (Henry6, Abraham5, Henry4, John3, John2, Thomas1), born c1897.

He married EDA/ADA HIMMAN/HINNAN in Indiana. No information for Eda/Ada has been found, it is assumed she left when the boys were young, and they were raised by their father and grandmother, Josephine Craig Barlow.

She was born 30 November 1931 in Florida, and died 26 May 1994 in Polk Co Florida, burial in Mount Tabor Baptist Cemetery, Lakeland, Polk Co Florida. (Son, RICHARD BARLOW)
