MSgt Paul Gudde August 2000 I was adopted 38 years ago and I am looking for my biological mother CAROL BARLOW. Here's my history: My name is Paul Jerome Gudde I was born in April of 1962 in Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa -San Diego, California My biological mothers maiden name was Carol Barlow -- didn't know my fathers name, but I believe it was Carl-- I was told she was 15 years old when she gave birth to me and my father was 17. My pre-adopted name for 3 days was Baby Boy Barlow I am also told I have siblings, but that's all I know. Adopted by James Marvin Gudde & Shirley Ann Gudde I am currently stationed in the Air Force (18 years) in Korea. If you can help me, please e-mail! I have been looking all my life and I'm starting to think I will never meet my biological family. My local address is: MSgt Paul Gudde PCS 3, Box 1938 APO AP 96266 Susan I have extracted Barlows from the North Carolina death records who were born in other states. The following is the only one I found born in California, perhaps he is your lost relative.
Lillie Merritt August
1999
My Barlow ends with my grandmother Susie Marie Barlow born 09 December 1899 in Garfield, Pawnee, Kansas. Her parents were Robert Vance Barlow and Marrie Grell, both born in New York, Robert on 23 June 1862 and married 08 November 1862. Robert's father was John Barlow married to Susan or Marya Lillie. John had 2 brothers named Charlie and George, one of these brothers had a blacksmithy in Missouri. The other children of Robert and Marrie are as follows: John "Jack" born 15 August 1895 Paul A. born 15 August 1895 Otto Vance born 10 June 1898 Ira Christian Emma Dorothy born 09 May 1901 All the children were born in Garfield, Pawnee, Kansas. All died in Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo, California. Does anyone link up with this family? I'm looking for information on Georgie BARLOW born 1888 in Placerville California. She married Charles William BALL (when? where?) born 29 June 1874 in Shenandoah Valley, Amador Co California. They had six children: Charles R. Mernelva Bernard B. Marian Laura E. Janice Georgie died 23 March 1958 in Placerville and is buried in the Union Cemetery there. Charles preceded her in death by 15 years, and is buried in the Shenandoah Valley Cemetery, Amador Co California. If you have information concerning Georgie BARLOW-- the names of her parents and/or siblings especially -- please contact me. I'd like to know about her, and I have much related family history to share. I am interested in knowing how/why Charles Bennett BARLOW and Serena NYE traveled from Sandwich Massachusetts to Bath, Placer Co California. Charles Bennett Barlow was born 28 October 1830, married Serena Nye 14 August 1851 and died 19 January 1912 in California. Does anyone out there know anything more about him? Carla Cushman wrote to Phyllis: It's possible that your Charles and Serena could be the parents of the only BARLOW in my family tree: Georgie BARLOW, no other information about Georgie -- not even whether Georgie is her given name, or a nickname for Georgina, Georgette, Georgianna, or some such. Do you know whether Charles and Serena had children? Edson Barlow wrote about Carla's Georgie: I don't think that your Georgie was a daughter of Charles Bennett Barlow, but she could very well be a granddaughter. The location seems right and I know of no other Barlows in the vicinity. Phyllis
Stengl has found records of a Pearl Barlow, of which
she writes:
In Placer Co California, Jan 18, 1918, Pearl Barlow married Carl J. Lindrath. I think the town was Penyn, but the writing was very difficult. Reference Book L, page 11 I know nothing of a Pearl, and she wasn't exactly where my family was. I am not ruling her in or out. Just keeping Pearl, like Carla's Georgie, in mind. I am hoping for better luck tomorrow, when I finish my five films. I am starting to wonder if miners in obscure areas didn't go to their local towns to record their records, as nothing shows up . . . so far. Something is odd about this but I am not giving up. I truly believe there is a story to be had here, and that is what I am after. I am researching the Barlow line from Catawba Co / Wilkes Co NORTH CAROLINA. I have 3 Barlows that I know of that went from North Carolina to CALIFORNIA and OREGON. RUFUS
BARLOW, FINLEY BARLOW, and JESSE
BARLOW.
If either of these names would be of your family please contact me. I would like to share information with you. Thank you. James
Barlow from California
Looking for records of Barlow's arriving in California from England around 1880 to 1895. Specifically Eustice Barlow and / or Ernest Barlow from Northern England, Firth of Forth area. Eustice migrated to San Gabriel, California, while Ernest ended up in Alaska.
