In the years 1789 and 1790, six Barlow brothers came to
Vermont from New Fairfield / now Sherman, Connecticut,
and settled at what is now Fairfield, Vermont. These
were 1. Dimon, 2. Hubbard, 3. Ebenezer,
4. Bradley, 5. David and 6. Samuel
Barlow. They were sons of David and Sarah 'Bradley'
Barlow and were sixth generation descendants of the immigrant
John Barlow of Fairfield, Connecticut (David5. David4,
Samuel3, John2, John1) A seventh brother, Gershom
Barlow, remained at New Fairfield, Connecticut, were he
raised a family. A sister, Sarah
Barlow, also remained at New Fairfield, were she married
Levi Hubbell and raised a family.
"The Barlows were the outstanding early family
of Fairfield, Vermont," according to "Some
Early Records of Fairfield, Vermont" by Gilbert
Harry Doane. "The brothers took their father's
'proprietors share 'of Fairfield and bought other shares
to add to it."
In the first Federal Census of 1790/1791 the six Barlow
brothers and their wives lived in two households. Dimon
and Hubbard Barlow were given as the heads of the households,
probably because they were the only brothers who were married
at that time. They were listed in the census as Diamond
Barlow and Hubbart Barlow Esq. of Smithfield, Chittenden
Co Vermont. Dimon had a wife and Hubbard had a wife and
daughter.

land in Madison Parish Louisiana in 1839 and 1846,
both times he was shown to be a resident of Concordia
Parish Louisana. Noah is listed as a resident

County Mississippi. Concordia Parish is located directly
across the Mississippi River from Adams Co Mississippi
and a large number of residents and migrants to Concordia
came to the parish by way of Adams County or the Natchez

on plantations in Concordia Parish, but lived in Natchez,
Adams County. Noah was shown in census records to have
many many laborers and slaves in his household, and

The Diamond Drill - Thursday, July 29.
1971 Rites Held on Saturday for Brad Barlow
Rites were held at the Plowe Funeral Chapel, at 1:30
p.m. Saturday for one of the communities eldest citizens,
Bradley Barlow, 89 a resident recently of Crystal
Manor, who died late Wednesday afternoon while golfing
at the Crystal Falls Municipal Golf Course.
The circumstances of his death were almost appropriate.
Mr. Barlow had been an avid golfer well past the age that
forces most to give up most pursuits. His interest dated
back to the years the local club was established, and his
love for the game and the course led to hole no. 2 at the
municipal links being named in his honor years ago.
He was playing with a group of older golfers and was preparing
to hole out on no. 4 green when he was stricken and died
apparently instantly.
Mr. Barlow was born on July 11, 1882; in Oconto, Wisconsin
but had been a resident for the past 65 years. He was employed
for the past 50 years as a salesman for the Carpenter-Cook
Co. and was an insurance company representative prior to
total retirement at an advanced age.
He was a member of the Crystal Falls Masonic Lodge, and
a life member of the Masonic Blue Lodge. Masonic Lodge memorial
services were held at the funeral chapel Friday evening at
8. He was also a member of the Iron County Sportsman's Club.
