WALTER
JARVIS BARLOW was
born on January 22, 1868, at Sing Sing -now Ossining- Westchester
County, New York. He was a son of WILLIAM
HENRY AND CATHERINE STRATTON 'LENT' BARLOW and
a tenth generation descendent of John Barlow of Fairfield,
Connecticut (Walter Jarvis10, William Henry9, John8, John7,
John6, Jabez5, Samuel4, John3, John2, John1)
On November 08, 1898, Walter Jarvis Barlow
and MARION BROOKS PATTERSON were married in St. John's
Church at Los Angeles. She was born on September 23, 1872,
at Dunkirk, New York, and was a daughter of John Patterson
and Ella Brooks.

WALTER JARVIS
BARLOW, JR., was
born on June 21, 1900, at Berlin, Germany.
He married first MATHILDE ODILDE WILHELM in July
1928 at Paris, France, and he married second MARGARET
JOHNSTONE MONTGOMERY on May 13, 1958, at Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was an author, artist, art critic and Director of the Otis Art Institute. He
died in July 14, 1965.

Death Takes Art Authority - Jarvis Barlow
Jarvis Barlow, 65, noted
art authority and former director of both
the Otis and Pasadena art institutes, died
Wednesday at his home in Carlsbad aftera
brief illness.
Mr. Barlow, a graduate of
UC Berkeley and of Georgetown University
was named a life-fellow of the International
Institute of Arts and Letters in 1961. He
resigned as Otis director that year for health
reasons.
Also a Writer A writer as
well as a painter, Mr. Barlow authored a
book of poetry, "Once in an Orange Grove," in
1941. He spoke four foreign languages and
was a lecturer at the USC School of Architecture
in 1950-51. He had been associated with art
institutes from 1943 to 1961.
He leaves his wife, Mrs.
Margaret J. Barlow, and a daughter, Mrs.
John DeKock of Ranchita, Calif.
Funeral services will be
at 10 a.m. Saturday at Church of Our Saviour,
535 W. Roses Road, San Gabriel.
Turner and Stevens Mortuary, Pasadena, is
in charge.

on August 31, 1901, at Los Angeles.
She married PAUL ANDERSON HERRON on July 16, 1925, at Sierra Madre, California.
She died on February 21, 1964, at Los Angeles. |

April 05, 1905, at Los Angeles.
She married JOHN PROBASCO MCWILLIAMS on September 29,
1928, at Sierra Madre, California.
She died in 1994 at Cleveland, Ohio. |
Walter Jarvis Barlow died on died September
04, 1937, at Los Angeles and Marion Barlow died on March
17, 1964, at Pasadena, California. They were buried in
the San Gabriel Cemetery at Los Angeles.

DR. WALTER J. BARLOW
DIES IN LOS ANGELES
Ex-Dean of the University of California Medical College
Had Practiced 40 Years
Special to THE NEW YORK TIMES.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4. -- Dr. Walter Jarvis Barlow,
former vice president of the American Medical Association
and one-time Dean of the University of California
Medical College, died yesterday at his home here
of bronchial pneumonia. His age was 69.
Educated at Columbia University and the College
of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, he had practiced
medicine here for nearly forty years.
He was a former president of the Los Angeles County
Medical Association and the National and California
Tuberculosis Association.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marian Brooks Barlow,
and three children, Catherine Barlow, Walter Jarvis
Barlow, Jr. and Mrs. John P. McWilliams.
