The daughter of Absalom B. 'Abner' Dickerson and Eleanor Gross, she was born September 1842 in Smyth Co Virginia, and died December 09, 1927 in Polk Co Arkansas, burial in Foote Cemetery, Polk Co Arkansas. |
1910 - Residing with James Thomas and family in Polk Co Arkansas. Civil War veteran for the Confederate Army. (age 73) Civil War - Entered the Confederate Army as a Private in Company F, 63rd Virginia Infantry on 29 March 1863 at Saltville/Glade Spring, Virginia. Detailed on 15 May 1864 as Division Teamster by General Reynolds and still on the rolls as present on 31 August 1864. Homestead Act Land 13 Nov 1896: On 13 November 1896 Joseph (age 58) supplied testimony for the family's Homestead Act claim. He stated family moved to Cove, Arkansas in December 1889 onto land where there was an old house. Family improved the house and added an additional one. They also began farming approximately 32 acres of the land. He valued the houses and acreage at $300. At the time of the 1896 filing only Eliza and one child were part of the family. The property was eventually awarded to the family as a package of 153.49 acres under the Homestead Act on 10 April 1897. |

29 October 1887 - 24 October 1970 Plot: 0 2438 Services for Charles M. Barlow, 82, of The Golden West Hotel, 720 4th Ave., will be held at 10:45 a.m. tomorrow in Goodbody's Ivy Chapel. Military graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Mr. Barlow, a native of Illinois, lived in the county 25 years. He died Saturday. He was an Army vetran of World War I. Mr. Barlow had once been employed as a guard at Ryan Aeronautical Company. He was a member of the Kenneth L. Balanchard Post, American Legion of National City. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Mills (born 1918) of National City; a sister and two grandchildren. |

(Ms Marriage Records) (I believe this is the correct record, but it is not proven) The daughter of Edmund I. Nichols and Justine Parker, (Ancestry), she was born in December 1856 in Virginia / West Virginia, and died in 1942 in Brown Co Kansas, burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, Brown Co Kansas.
