	A farmer, he raised grain, peanuts and fruits on a 60 acre farm in the Hardy District of Isle of Wight Co, bordering the Surry Co line. In 1900, Georgianna Barlow, a widow, was enumerated as a boarder in the home of James Gilbert Spivey and his wife; Etha Adelaide Barlow; daughter of John F. Barlow and Lavena Holloway, in the Hardy District, Isle of Wight Virginia. She had borned two children, both are living at that time. -Her will was probated 06 January 1908 Isle of Wight WB 34-

MARY ELIZABETH 'BETTY' BARLOW, housewife and storekeeper, was born 13 December 1872, Isle of Wight Co Virginia, baptised at Mill Swamp Baptist Church, and died 01 February 1960, in Nansemond Co Virginia, burial on 03 February 1960 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suffolk Virginia.

She married ZACHARIAH HEDGEPETH on 17 July 1892, in a ceremony performed by the Reverend Edwin Stephenson of the Mills Swamp Baptist Chuch. The wedding took place at the J.F. Barlow farm in Isle of Wight Co Virginia. Zachariah was born September 15, 1865 in Southampton Co Virginia, (Family Bible) baptised in 1875 in the Black Creek Meeting House, and died 24 December 1945 in Suffolk Virginia. The couple was enumerated 1900 census of Southampton Co - Berlin/Ivor P.O. on page 29B. At some time between 1902 and 1905, Zachariah and Mary moved to the Richmond Co Virginia area, where they lived at 611 Nicholson St, in Fulton. They were living at this address in 1905 when their son, Tommy drowned.

Zach worked for a time at Richmond Cedar Works, and in 1910, census soundex shows Zachariah, wife Mary, daughter Elam (should be Elma), son Clifford, and brother Clemont (should be Clemmon) living in Richmond City, Enumeration District 122. In 1914, they moved to Upson, in Sussex Co where he worked for Surry Lumber Company. Again, in 1915, they moved to Central Hill, where Surry Lumber Company moved its logging operations to a new camp. Here, they rented a house and farmed after Surry Lumber Company folded, in 1927. They lived at that location until a home was purchased at Harrell Siding, around 1940.

		Ella Gertrude McDowell's tombstone in Oakwood Cemetery, in Richmond, Virginia, was replaced with a larger one. The smaller tombstone was re-engraved with the names of her four childred that died soon after birth, and was placed in Oakwood Cemetery at their graves. 		Robert was an engineer for SS & S Railway for many years. They lived in Sedley, where they were Charter members of the Sedley Baptist Church. When SS&S folded, they moved to Franklin and started a grocery store. When Roxie Carroll (see next) died Robert Lee Wellons and Dona Barlow took Mildred to live with them. I don't think they adopted her, though. She married Harvey Wilson Stephenson

3.	PEMBROKE DECATUR 'PD' BARLOW, born 18 December 1836, and died 05 November 1866. He married MARTHA FRANCES GWALTNEY on 13 January 1859. The daughter of Willis P. Gwaltney and Honnor Gwaltney, she was born 14 September 1841, and died 24 November 1917.	PD & Martha Wedding
	After P.D.'s death, Martha married William 'Henry' McCoy of Roundtree, Maryland. Henry was a water boy during the War. His father died, and his mother and he moved to Isle of Wight. Martha and Henry McCoy married in 1868 and had five more children Pembroke Decatur was named after P.D. Gwaltney, his Uncle, who founded the Smithfield Ham/Gwaltney meat industry in Smithfield, Virginia. His Uncle was an officer in the Surry Light Artillery during the Civil War, and P.D. served under him as a Private. P.D. survived his service in the Surry Light Artillery during the Civil War only to die on November 05, 1866 as a result of eating green gill oysters in Smithfield, Virginia. Five friends had gone to a tavern or a pub in Smithfield for oysters, and three of the five died from the food poisoning. She married JOHN WILLIAM BARLOW, on 31 January 1867, the anniversary of her birth. The son of SAMPSON BARLOW and ELIZABETH TAYLOR, he was born 29 March 1837

In March 1862, John W. Barlow enlisted in the Surry Artillery, and he served with honor throughout the remainder of the civil war, surrendering on the Appomatox River at Extra Mills, whence he was taken to Petersburg and thence to Washington, where he was held fourteen days and then paroled. He is now a farmer of Hardy District, with post office address at Smithfield, Isle of Wight Co Virginia.

He married SARAH ELIZABETH JONES in 1869. She was born 16 September 1840, and died 25 March 1920, both are buried in Mill Swamp Cemetery, Smithfield, Virginia.

CHARLOTTE BARLOW, born 1807, and died 12 September 1875. She married JAMES CROCKER on 31 December 1827. He was born 30 October 1805, and died 04 August 1865.

She married her first cousin, JOSEPH JAMES CROCKER on 05 March 1894. The son of Immanuel Chapman Crocker and Rosana, (below) he was born 26 March 1870, and died 18 May 1946.
