Wilson Hues Barlow
was born March 15, 1835 in Barbour Co Alabama
The family removed to Sumter Co Georgia when Wilson was young
It is not known who the father of Wilson is, his mother is Elizabeth, shown as the head of family in the 1850 census of Sumter Co Georgia. It appears that Wilson may be a twin to Edyann Barlow.

Is this the same Wilson H., son of Elizabeth Barlow?

McCartney December 2000 Eldora Barlow was born 11 February 1876 in Maitland Orange Co Florida and passed away 11 February 1959. Her mothers maiden name was Allen according to information from Eldora's death certificate, informant shown to be Eldora, apparently given prior to her death. Eldora married 06 May 1896 to Alfred Griffin in Hillsborough Co Florida. He was born 28 September 1871 in Huntington, Hereford, England and passed away 09 January 1929 in San Francisco, California. Eldora lived in Florida, Massachusetts and New Orleans, Louisiana in her early years. Alfred was an immigration officer / Chinese inspector. He worked in Massachusetts, all over Arizona,NewMexico,El Paso, Texas, and all alongtheMexicanborder.Trans- ferred to Florida, New Orleans, and New York. Eldora lived in San Luis Obispo, California during his later transfers, with four of the children. The fifth child,Alfred, my father was sent to Massachusetts to live with relativesinWestboro,I believe. Alfred Sr was finally transferred to San Francisco to be near his family, where he died. |

5. John
William "Jack" Griffin
b. 25 March 1909, in Arizona & died
November 1978, in Santa Barbara, California.
3 sons, Richard, Gerald, & Tommy Griffin
While it does appear that Eldora is the daughter of Wilson Hues Barlow, many questions remain, especially the maiden name of her mother, whom I have as "Allen". Can anyone shed further light on this family?

Notes from Susan
Some possibilities:
Mary A. Brown's mother's maiden name is "Allen", and the A initial we assume to be Ann, may really be Allen, or she may even have been married to a Brown prior to marrying Wilson Barlow, and her maiden name could really be Allen.
Perhaps Mary and Wilson divorced ... and she remarried to an Allen.
Perhaps
Mary A. Brown has died prior to the 1900 census and
Wilson may in fact be the same who married Mrs.
Mary A. Alexander in 1894. The marriage certificate
does not give ages for this couple, but if it is in
fact our Wilson, he would have been very near 70 years old,
and thus, I would think, Mary would also be at an upward age, and
had been married prior to an Alexan-
der before marrrying Wilson, maybe her maiden
name was Allen. Or ... perhaps
she married an Allen after Wilson's death.
We need to find a marriage record for Mary Allen and Mr.
Alex- ander.
Never-the-less, she would have been a stepmother to Eldora, so this is unlikely.
