HENRY FRANCIS BARLOW2, son of William Barlow and Edith Mathoda, was born about 1803/04 in Washington Co Georgia, [C] and died November 1864 in Georgia. [FR]

He married RHODA HARRELL about 1828.   She died 25 March 1879 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [W,FR,LDS]   She was most likely the daughter of Jesse or Solomon Harrell who were living in Washington Co Georgia in the 1820 census. [C]

Being of advanced age and knowing I must shortly depart this life I make my last will and testament.
1. I direct my body to be buried in a decent manner and trust my soul to rest with God through salvation through Jesus Christ.
2. My debts are to be paid.
3. I give my son Solomon H. Barlow 20 hogs, all my sheep, one mule, a two horse wagon, a buggy and all my farming utensils.
4. I give my grandchildren Mollie J. Barlow, Charles W. Barlow, Permeely J. Barlow, Rhoda L. Barlow, and Delia O. Barlow my entire stock of cattle and my household and kitchen furniture.
5. I name my friends W.C. McNair and S.E. Jones as my executors.

Rhoda Barlow died 25 March 1879 in Pulaski Co Georgia.
Grandchildren mentioned in will: Mollie J. and Charles W. Barlow were children of her daughter, Nancy M. Barlow. Nancy M. "Annie" Barlow married about 1871, Abeline Carlton Jones, son of Seaborn Early Jones, one of the executors of Rhoda Barlow's will. The other three grand-children mentioned were the three eldest children of her son, Solomon H. Barlow. Four other children were born to Solomon and his wife, Elizabeth Ann Floyd Barlow: Susanna, John Henry, Daniel W. and J.B. Barlow.

MARY A. BARLOW, born c1843 in Georgia. [C]   All genealogies that I have seen show this Mary Ann to have married Jeremiah Ward, but the death certificate of Mary Ann Barlow Ward proves she was the daughter of James Wiley Barlow and Ancy Hartley.

WILLIAM BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born c1829 in Wilkinson Co Georgia, [C] and may have died prior to 1880. [C]

He married ELIZABETH ROZAR / ROZIER on 13 December 1864 in Pulaski Co Georgia.  [GMR]   Elizabeth had previously been married to Theophilus Rozar and had 2 children in the 1860 census, living a few doors from William Barlow and they had children, Ashley and Sarah Rozar.   [C] In the 1870 census, the children were mistakenly listed as Barlow's.  [C]

I was not able to locate William and Elizabeth in the 1880 or 1900 census.   Either they were missed during census taking, William has died and Elizabeth remarried, or both have died.

JOSEPH B. BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born c1830, Wilkinson Co Georgia, [C] and died 18 December 1862.   [FR] Carl Jowers shows his death date as 28 November 1862 in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co Tennessee, a casualty of the Civil War.    Perhaps the December date is his date of burial.

He married MARGARET FRANCIS on 25 July 1852 in Pulaski Co Georgia.   [GMR] The daughter of Franklin and Ann Jemimah Francis, she was born 01 January 1833 in South Carolina and died 02 July 1877.

JOSEPH E. BARLOW, born c1858.  [FR]  Family genealogies show a Joseph E., I do not know how that was determined, so this may be the same as Edwin.  I find a Joseph in Pulaski Co 1880, age 27, making him born c1853, married to Susan, and a baby daughter, age 2.  I did not locate them again in 1900.

DUDLEY ELLIS or EDWIN BARLOW, born April 1859, Pulaski Co Georgia.   [C, FR]   He is not in any of the census records, but several genealogies show him to be the son of Joseph and Margaret. One researcher shows him to be Dudley Edwin, so may be the Edwin in census records, instead of Joseph.  Again, this makes me wonder if Joseph and Margaret did indeed have a son named Joseph.   I did not locate a Dudley, Ellis, or Edwin in an 1880 census.

DAVID E. BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born August 1832-33 in Georgia, and died between 1910-1920. [C]

He married NANCY WADSWORTH on 04 December 1851 in Wilkinson Co Georgia.  [GMR] She was born September 1835 in Georgia, and died between 1900-1910. [C]    Nancy may have been the Nancy Ann Wadsworth, age 12, who was living with W.W. and Elizabeth Spivy in the 1850 Wilkinson Co Georgia census.    LDS shows Nancy's maiden name to be Cherry, as is her mother's name in the 1880 census.  So is Wadsworth her maiden name, or is Cherry from a 2nd marriage of her mother?   I find a Nancy Cherry, age 16, (born c1834) in the 1850 Wilkinson Co Georgia census, with parents William and Parmelia Cherry.    However, having married David in 1851, at about age 16, surely she had not been married previously.

MORGAN TILLMON BARLOW3, (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born December 1833 in Wilkinson Co Georgia, and died c1906 in Bibb Co Georgia [C, FR]

He married MARY J. COLLINS on 10 June 1858 in Pulaski Co Georgia.   [GMR]   She was born September 1842, and died 16 August 1919 in Macon, Bibb Co Georgia. [FR]   I found several Mary Collins' in the 1850 census of Georgia, so I have no way of knowing which might be her to identify her parents.  There were none in Wilkinson or Pulaski Co.   I have no burial places for either.

I feel sure one of the following was this Morgan Tillman service time in the Civil War:
1rst Confederate Reg Vol Inf, Army of TN.   Independant Vol., Bibb Co Georgia shows Tillman Barlow, Private January 14, 1862.    Roll for August 31, 1864, shows him present.   Tilman Barlow, Private, 36 (Villepigne's) Georgia Inf. Confederate     Nara: Film Number M226 Roll 3

Morgan and Harry and sons of William Steely Barlow

In the 1930 census of Bibb Co, son, James E. Barlow, age 51, has Lavitia Barlow, age 33, listed as his sister in his household.   It may be possible she is actually a sister-in-law though.

LAURA J. BARLOW, born June 1866, and died after 1920. [C]    Perhaps she was named Permelia at birth, and later changed to Laura.  She married a STEWART c1902, [C] and is a widow in 1910, [C] has one daughter, Nellie Stewart, age 8. [C]   Laura is not in the 1930 census, and eeing that she referred to herself as Barlow, and widowed, I believe this may be her:  Mrs. Laura Barlow died 15 April 1924 in Bibb Co Georgia, Certificate #10479-F [GDR]

ELISHA MARION BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born 04 September 1836 [1900C April 1836] and died 10 January 1901, burial is said to be in Barlow Cemetery, Wilkinson Co Georgia in unmarked grave [FR]

He married NANCY ANN PURSER on 07 September 1870. [GMR]  The daughter of John J. Pusser / Purser and Edith Helms, [C,RWWC] she was born 18 July 1851 in Pulaski Co Georgia, and died 21 April 1920 in Bleckley Co Georgia, burial in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia in an unmarked grave. [RWWC]   They were divorced in 1882, but remarried on December 29, 1885 in Pulaski Co Georgia.  [RWWC, GMR]

Elisha served as a Private in Company G, 2nd Regiment, Arkansas Volunteers, Confederate States Army. where he was wounded by a mini-ball in the right leg during the Battle of Liberty Gap in Tennesee on 25 June 1864.  His leg was subsequently amputated four inches below his right knee.  (RWWC)   Edson Barlow's military records:  Elisha M. MARY / MARION MATILDA BARLOW, born 27 May 1873, an died 05 October 1909.   [FR] She married JAMES W. 'JIM' DAVIS on 17 November 1901.  [FR]  I was unable to find a marriage record.   I find a James W. Davis, age 42, widower in 1910 Pulaski Co Georgia along with his mother that may be the same.  (Census Image)

HENRY WRIGHT BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born c1838-40 in Georgia, [C] date of death unknown, [LDS c1885], burial in Bibb Co Georgia [LDS]

He married MARY PAULINE CAUSEY on 09 June 1867 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR] The daughter of Alexander Causey and Angeline Bone, [LDS,RWWC] she was born c1848-49, probably in Bibb Co Georgia, LDS shows her death as 1885 in Fort Hill, Bibb Co Georgia.  This is the same Alexander Causey who married Mary A. Barlow, daughter of Morgan Tillmon Barlow and Mary Ann Allday on 11 August 1864 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR]

From Edson Barlow's military records, I believe this is Henry:  Henry R. Barlow, Private, Co C 19th Battalion GA Cavalry, transferred Dec 30 1862 to Co D 10th Confederate Cavalry which was formed by consolidating the 19th Battalion GA Cavalry and the 5th Battalion Hilliard's Legion AL Cavalry

WILLIAM WRIGHT BARLOW, born 29 June 1876, [FR] [1900C May 1875] and died 12 August 1933, Hartford, Pulaski Co Georgia, Death Certificate #18951, [GDR] burial in Giddens Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia. [CR] [CR shows dates of 29 February 1875 - 12 August 1933]

RHODA JANE BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) daughter of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born 21 July 1841, [CR] and died 12 January 1924,[CR] burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia. [CR]

She married HEZEKIAH HARRELL on 23 February 1858 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR]  The son of Miles Harrell, [RWWC] he was born 06 July 1838, [CR] and died 24 October 1906, [CR] burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia. [CR]

HEZEKIAH HARRELL WILL

1. To my wife Rhoda Harrell I give one thousand dollars. I give her for her lifetime the house we live in Cochran (Georgia) and all the contents of it.

2. The residue of my estate is to be divided equally among my children and grand-child named as follows: Virginia Jones, Martha Green, H.S. Harrell, Ida Bollinger, Robert Harrell who is the only heir of W.H. Harrell, deceased, Amelia Purser, Amy Doretha Gay.

CHERRY ANN M. HARRELL, born 16 February 1862, [FR] and probably died before June 1880. [W]
She married DAVID HUGHEY PURSER on 28 December 1879 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR] (Note, I find that David (Percer) is at home in 1880, age 22 with his parents, and shows him to be widowed). (Census Image)  The son of John J. Pusser / Purser and Edith Helms, he was born 31 October 1857 in Pulaski Co Georgia, [CR] and died 27 February 1925, Death Certificate #3251-G] burial in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia.  [CR] He was also a brother of Nancy Purser who married Elisha Marion Barlow.   David married Mary Molmand in July 1883  [GMR]

RHODA MARTHA HARRELL, born 06 October 1864,[FR] [1900C September 1864] and died 09 December 1952 in Laurens Co Georgia, Death Certificate #30011  [GDR] (Records showing her death as 01 November 1906 are incorrect)

NANCY M. 'ANNIE' BARLOW3 (Henry2, William1) daughter of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born c1845, probably died between 1880-1889. [C]

She married 1.) WILLIAM BARLOW, her first cousin on 28 December 1862 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR] The son of William Barlow and Lucinda Myrick, born c1842, and probably died before 1870. [C]
She married 2.) ABELINE CARLTON JONES.  The son of Seaborn Early Jones and Susan Hall, he was born October 1851 and died in 28 December 1925 in Dodge Co Georgia, Death Certificate #32216-G, [GDR] burial in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia. [CR]   After Nancy's death, Abeline married Cynthia J. Tripp on 17 October 1888 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR]

Children of Nancy and William are:   Family tradition says that Abeline would not allow Nancy to have her 'Barlow children' in the his home, thus, they were raised by their grandmother, Rhoda Harrell Barlow. However, Rhoda died in 1879, and I was not able to locate the children in an 1880 census.

SEABORN R. CUYLER JONES4, born 11 January 1872 in Georgia, and died 08 April 1935 in Dodge Co Georgia, Death Certificate #9432, [GDR] burial in Bethany Baptist Cemetery, Bleckley Co Georgia. [CR   show: Jones, Seab Jun 11, 1872 - Dec 21, 1938]

EADY / EDA M. /EDNA S.P. BARLOW, born c1847-1849. [C] [GMR Transcribed as Edna]

She married JAMES M. GIDDENS on 18 December 1866 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR]     

I find no record of them under any spelling in an 1880 census.  The closest thing I find in 1900, is a Mrs. E.S. Giddens, in the Georgia State Sanitorium, Baldwin Co Georgia, age 51, widowed, that may or may  not be her.

SOLOMON HENRY BARLOW3, (Henry2, William1) son of Henry Barlow and Rhoda Harrell, was born 25 August 1848, [CR,C] and died 30 March 1929 in Dodge Co Georgia, Death Certificate # 12546-K  [GDR, CR]

He married ELIZABETH ANN 'BETSY' FLOYD on 04 July 1872 in Pulaski Co Georgia. [GMR]  The daughter of Washington J. Floyd and Susan Lister, [RWWC,C] she was born 14 August 1849, [CR] (1900 census shows July 1849), and died 31 March 1931, Death certificate #9024, Mrs. Sol. H. Barlow  [GDR, CR]    Both are buried in the Rozar Cemetery, Eastman, Dodge Co Georgia. [CR]

J.B. / JAY B. BARLOW, born 19 December 1891, and died 30 September 1970 in Dodge Co Georgia, Death Certificate #028733, [GDR] burial in Rozar Cemetery, Dodge Co Georgia. [CR] In 1920, J.B. lives with a Lamb family in Dodge Co Georgia, his age is 29, he a single, hired man.  ( Census Image)    I could not locate him in a 1930 census.
