*  the family before Asa, looks like Wallers, as does he, but the next family is clearly Walters, I don't know if this is an error, or if the name is trully Wallers.  Donna shows that it is Walters, and that Laura is indeed  a daughter of PC and Lucy, though she, like myself, does not know who Isadora Barlow might be.

Robinson Library, Crawford Co Illinois, on Doctors of Crawford County:
P. C. Barlow, M.D. On September 24, 1902, the following obituary appeared in the Argus; "James P. Barlow, a lawyer, who died near Hotchkiss, Colorado, September 11, 1902, aged seventy-two, well known citizen forty years ago in Crawford County. The son of Dr. P. C. and  Lucy Barlow who came from Vermont in the thirties, settling first in Palestine and  afterward on a farm south of Robinson where the deceased grew to mahood"

A record of accounts maintained by Dr. E.L. Patton of Palestine, indicates that Dr. P.C. Barlow was in partnership with him soon after 1834.

From "The History of Crawford and Clark Counties, 1883":

In 1843 when a site for the county seat of Crawford county, wasbeing considered Dr. P. C. Barlow offered land five miles southwest of the present location of Robinson and property was also offered by William Wilson, Finley Paull and Robert C. Wilson. An election was held and the property selected for Robinson was that offered by the second group of men rather than the land of Dr. Barlow.

Ebenezer Barlow was a physician in Robinson in 1868, according to the Argus, and was married to Miss Anna Zimmerman.

He operated a drug & grocery store in partnership with his brother, George E. Barlow, in Robinson the first drug store to open in Robinson.

Dr. Ebenezer B. Barlow of Robinson, Illinois, practiced here before 1868. The information regarding him was obtained exclusively through issues of the Argus and is recorded here as news concerning him appeared in the newspaper. ...."operated Drug and Grocery Store in Robinson with his brother George E. Barlow and the firm was known as "E. Barlow and Bro." This was the only drug store in Robinson until 1868 when Dr. Kildow opened a store. On November 26, 1868 the partnership between the Barlow brothers was dissolved and Dr. E. B. Barlow continued in business alone.

On March 09, 1871 the Argus reports:

"Dr. Barlow has put up a street lamp burning coal oil, at the corner of his drug store -- being the first street lamp in our town -- he also constructed the first sidewalk in town."

February 13, 1873 ... "sold his business to Dr. Green and considers moving to Texas"

January 08, 1874 "Purchased Green's Drug Store"

February 26, 1874 "Frank Stevens of Newton went into business with him"

April 02, 1874 "Barlow and Stevens have purchased the drug store of McCrillis & Co at Oblong. Fount J. Cooper of the Robinson Store will manage it." "Robinson Store, No. 3, Masonic Square, East Side of Square."

October 22, 1874 "Dr. E. B. Barlow sent a bill to the county supervisors for the care of paupers."

December 03, 1874 ... "firm of Barlow & Stevens dissolved by mutual consent."

December 12, 1874 "The advertisement of the drug store continued, E. B. Barlow was the sole proprietor.

December 20, 1874 ... " a child of the E. B. Barlow's, age one year died."

In 1879 Dr. E. B. Barlow opened the first cooper shop in Robinson under the firm name of Smith & Barlow:

September 25, 1879 .. "Now putting up barrels, kegs and casks of all kinds in first class order and selling at living rates. A cooper shop has been much needed in Robinson."

The doctor left Robinson and in 1896 the Argus reported his death in Texas.
