Christopher Parlur/Barler/Barlow
was born about 1695 in Germany -WF-
He came to America with his wife Pavera -Barbara- in 1717 He was indentured to
pay for their transportationand on May 05, 1730, was freed of this indenture.
He died around 1747 in Virginia -BB p 29- |

MATTHIAS2 BARLOW born about 1725 in Virginia
Matthias Bellar/Barlow was probably the oldest son and was
granted 400 acres of land on June 24, 1726, jointly with
Mathias Smith.
On October 19,
1747, Mathias Smith deeded to Jacob Barlow 200 acres,
which was half of the 1726 grant. This deed indicates
that both Christopher, the father, and Matthias were
dead by 1747, that Matthias had no wife nor children,
and that, Jacob, the elder surviving son, was heir
to the land. This information given by Edson and
Pauline Barlow August 09, 1997. Edson & Pauline

SARAH BARLOW, born April 30, 1792 She married JOHN SIBERT,
September 07, 1802, Adair Co Green River, Kentucky
There
appears to be some discrepancies with Sarah Barlow,
two sources giving different information, not to
mention that Henry is also showing a daughter, Sarah
who married a John Sibert.

2. Edna Skoog of Champaign, Illinois writes:
Sarah
BARLOW, daughter of Lewis and Judah Smith Barlow,
was born April 30, 1792 in Washington Co Kentucky,
died January 27, 1874 in Polk Co Iowa and married
Benjamin WHEELER on October 03, 1809 in Adair
Co Kentucky. Sarah moved to Iowa with her
sons, Archibald, Henry and daughter, Sarah, by
1850, after the death of her husband in Shelby
Co Indiana. Her daughter, Elizabeth Wheeler Hayes
had moved to Polk Co about this time and had
been abandoned by her husband, James. He went
to California and no word from him for 10 years,
so she remarried.

Families, from the research
of Edna Skoog
Does anyone have absolute proof of the parentage
of the Sarah that married either John Sibert, or
Benjamin Wheeler?
John Sibert is the son of Peter Sibert, Peter
being a testator on the will
of Henry Barlow, so
I feel that his daughter is more likely the correct
Sarah to marry John Sibert.

Estate papers Barren Co Kentucky
He married RHODA "RHODY" THOMAS May 24, 1789
in Culpepper Co Virginia
Joshua Barlow is mentioned in
the estate papers of his daughter Lucinda Barlow,
she never married. Papers stated son, John T. Barlow,
could give estate papers of his father, should look
in Barren Co Kentucky court records. The papers of
Lucinda Barlow named some of her brothers and sisters.
I, Imo Greenwood have a copy
of Lucinda Barlow's papers, she named Parm "Parham" Renfro,
and his brothers and sisters as children of her
sister Elizabeth Barlow --Elizabeth married William
Renfro 12 July 1813, other records show 12 July
1815 -- Elizabeth is also known as Betsy Barlow
I, Imo Greenwood, have copy
of part of estate settlement papers of Joshua
and Rhoda Thomas Barlow. It was settled 19th
and 20th of February, 1856. Joshua Barlow was
not found on the 1850 census Barren Co Kentucky,
with Rhody "Rhoda" and
Lucinda Barlow, so it is assumed he had passed
on, the date of his death is not known at this
time -July 21 , 1998. Why the estate was so long
in settling is unknown at this time.

JOINT ANSWER OF RHODA BARLOW AND JOHN T. BARLOW
22 April 1837
Answer to a bill instituted in Circuit Court by James Fisher,
Jr., and Eliza Jane Fisher, his wife. They admit to the death of Joshua Barlow,
admit that he died intestate, and that he left considerable property. They
also admit the children of the deceased ---as listed above - this time "Lucinda
Barlow" is listed--
They state that an inventory was returned to the court of
the slaves and personal estate of the deceased, except for some few articles
of small value which were overlooked at the time of appraisal and listing,
all of which were sold and will be found in the list of sales, except for the
aforesaid hog and a note on Philip Dean for $16 who is hopelessly insolvent
and removed to parts unknown.
They state that the Dower of Rhoda Barlow was allotted to
her in the slaves, and the rest of the slaves were divided among the children
and representatives of Joshua Barlow, deceased, and that the Complts had received
their share of said slaves and executed a receipt for same.
They state that notwithstanding said division was equal, said
Complt. James (Fisher) from 'perverseness' refused to abide by it unless your
Respt. John (T. Barlow) would pay him $10, which he did, rather than there
should be any dis-satisfaction, the receipt of which is herewith filed. They
state that dower has not yet been allotted to Rhoda in the lands of the deceased,
nor of the personal estate. That she purchased items at the sale, which she
is willing to account for, and if they amount to more than her Dower, she will
make it equal.
They deny that there was a slave that was not accounted for.
That Your Respt. John T. Barlow had a negro boy on the farm at the time of
death of Joshua, and while John T. Barlow lived there with the family - that
he had purchased the negro in Virginia for his own, and with his own money,
and he herewith files a bill of sale for same. They state that Sally Bennett
got besides the articles before mentioned, a saddle and bridle, and other articles
not now necessary to mention, and the the horse beast which she received was
worth at least $75, and that she received in value more than any of his other
children received. Your Respt. states that he received from his father only
a colt worth about $25 or $30, a bed and furniture worth $20. That his father
intended to make his advancements to his children equal, and that the property
advanced by him, he considered to be equal. He also denied that he freighted
to New Orleans any tobacco for his father, and that his father had no interest
in any tobacco, and stated that he, John T. Barlow had advanced about $500
to Joshua Barlow to pay for a piece of land adjoining his farm, and that it
was agreed that in return John should have all the corn and wheat raised on
the land purchased, and all the tobacco raised on the land of Joshua, for two
years to pay the loan, and the tobacco crop mentions in the bill was that which
John raised for same.
DOWER ALLOTTED TO RHODA BARLOW, WIDOW
December Term 1836
Court appointed the following commissioners to allot the dower: Robert
Murrell, Thomas Feland, William Mansfield, John Perkins.
Allotted negroes, Patsy, Jo, and Reuben to the value of $1900.
The remaining of the negroes were allotted as follows:
