Services for Maxine H. Rathje, 85, of Lemon Grove, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa. Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary is in charge, with burial planned in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rathje was born in Iowa and lived in the county 36 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Marvin of Santee., Donald of San Diego, David of Iowa, Norman of Illinois and Darrel of Minnesota; two daughters, Helen McArthur of Hawthorne, Calif., and Sharon Crowningshield of San Diego; a brother, Harold Barlow of Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

John F. Barlow, 72, of 1930 N.E. 45th Court died of a heart attack Monday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Barlow, a lifelong Des Moines resident, retired as a truck driver for Hyman Freightways Co. and was a member of the Teamsters union.
Among survivors are his wife, Arlene; a son, John Jr. at home; two daughters, Sherrie Leaf and Nancy Davis; a brother, Robert; and three sisters, Wilma Gilbert, Eleanor See and Francis Horton, all of Des Moines; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Eleanor L. "Blossom" See, age 71, of 1620 Eighth St. died of a respiratory ailment Thursday at Broadlawns Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. See was born in Polk County and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Barb Smith, Shirley DeFrancisco and Mary Barrington, all of Des Moines; a sister, Wilma Gilbert, and a brother, Bob Barlow, both of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present.

Helen W. Barlow, 72, of 2334 E. 14th St. died of a heart attack Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. The body will be cremated and memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial of the cremains at Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Barlow, a lifelong Des Moines resident, was a retired clerk for the city of Des Moines, and was a member of the Water Board, the Order of the Eastern Star and the East Des Moines Women's Club.
Survivors, all of Des Moines, include a son, La Verne Jr.; three daughters, Janet Clayton, Jean Barlow and Jane Barlow; her mother, Gladys Welsh; a brother, Charles Welsh; two sisters,Wilma Christianson and Jeanette Stickfort; and two grandchildren.

Darline Merical Sedars, 69, of Chariton died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The body will be cremated and memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Fisher-Aldrich Funeral Home in Waukee. Burial of the cremains will be at Panther Creek Cemetery near Adel.
Mrs. Sedars was born in Stuart and lived in Chariton eight years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Mickey of Waukee; three brothers, Willard Flesher of Lorimor, Darrell Flesher of Melcher-Dallas and Donald Flesher of Moscow; three sisters, Maxine Brittain of Corning, Melzine Roberts of Chariton and Gayla Burk of Powell, Mo.; a stepson, Craig Sedars of Prole; two stepdaughters, Diane Barlow of Albuquerque, N.M., and Debra Seeman of Anchorage, Alaska; a grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Helen G. Moore, 88, of Scottish Rite Park, 2909 Woodland Ave., died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Moore, a lifelong Des Moines area resident, was a retired sales associate with Younkers Department Store and a member of Highland Park Order of the Eastern Star and First Christian Church.
Surviving are a son, C. Thomas, and a daughter, Marilyn Barlow, both of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or Scottish Rite Park.
