Elizabeth Coffin September 2000 I am researching the line of John (b. 1778) and Abigail HOBBS Coffin to John (b. 1824) and Martha Delphina Coffin to Benjamin (b. 1863) and Eliza HORNER Coffin. This family moved from North Carolina to Indiana/Iowa. Most of my sources have come from Quaker records. In trying to locate the siblings of Benjamin Franklin Coffin, I discovered Louisa Jane Coffin (b. 1852) married Edward N. Barlow (b. 1848) from a Family History Sheet. Benjamin's siblings were Abigail Sophrona, Cora M., John M., Louisa Jane, Matilda Caroline, Thomas Newton and Ellen. Can anyone help to figure out what family Edward N. Barlow comes from? |
Suby Wallace September 1999 My Barlows appear in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood Springs, Colorado on the Barlow Clearinghouse. Bert V. is Berthier Vincent Barlow, my ggrandfather. His wife, Mollie C. is Mary Custis Everett, my ggrandmother. George B. and Maria are Bert's parents. Bert's brother, Ernest -spelled Earnest in census records, and his wife Lola, are there too. We think they were childless. Their sister, Ida Schram, married and moved to California. That is her baby buried there. Caroline is the wife of George's brother, Frederick A. Barlow, who died in 1898. I'm not sure why he is not buried in the same cemetery. At one time, I believe there was a Barlow Hotel in Glenwood Springs. This family moved to Colorado from Iowa, although George and Frederick were born in Massachussetts. Bert -born 1865- and Earnest -born 1874- were born in Leadora, Iowa. 1900 Census records in Colorado -Glenwood Precinct 4- list Maria, Caroline, Ernest, Berthier -George and Frederick had died. There is a Charles Barlow also listed in Glenwood Precinct 4, born in 1858 in Germany, with a wife Mary. I suspect they are related, however, as Glenwood was a pretty small place, and they also had a son named Earnest. In Glenwood precinct 5 is listed a Joseph Barlow -born 1842 in Ohio, wife; Ella W. and son Charles C. -1876, Iowa. I have looked in census records for 1880 Colorado and 1880 Iowa and could not find George, Maria, Bert or Earnest either place. Anyone have any further information they can share on George's origin? Thanks! |
