Mildred M. Padgett, 73, first executive secretary of Henry County Mental Health
Association, died Sunday, May 15, 1988 in Highland Hills Healthcare Center,
Athens, Ga., after a long illness. A resident of New Castle for
most of her life, she had resided in Athens for the past 2 1/2 years.
Born Jun. 20, 1914 in Somerset, Lincon Co., Ky., she was a daughter of Peter
Louis and Leona Abbott Barlow.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Karl
(Karen) Ohlsson of Marietta, Ga., and
Mrs. Harold (Janice) Snyder (1951-1991) of Athens, Ga.; two brothers, Robert
Barlow of New Lisbon and Jasper Barlow of New Castle; three sisters, Mary
Humphress of Louisville, Ky., Nancy Manifold of New Lisbon and Bertha
Stringer of Lewisville;
10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Emanuel Padgett (1913-1985),
and a daughter, Nancy Padgett Fowler (1949-1982).
Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday , May 21, 1988, in South Memorial Drive
Church of God, where she was a member. The Rev. Larry Buford will officiate.
Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery, New Castle. Friends may
call at Macer-Hall-Pasco Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Chapelwood United Methodist Church,
100 Janice Drive, Athens, Ga., 30606, or South Memorial Drive Church of God,
New Castle.

Born November 08, 1905, at Horse Cave, Ky., he was
the son of Will and Elizabeth (Richardson)
Barlow. He married Mary
(Sebastian) Barlow in June 1975, and she
survives.
Mr. Barlow worked at Spiegel Corp., Shelbyville, and was
a maintenance laborer for the city of Shelbyville before
retiring. Mr. Barlow was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. William (Cevellia)
Wilder, Detroit; a stepson, Lucien R. Taliaferro, Detroit;
14 stepgrandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks
Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at
2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jasper
Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill
Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted
by local veterans organizations. |
