Rita A. (Barlow) Redfern of Needham, former controller of Community Television, died Friday at home. She was 74.
Born and raised in Fall River, she resided in Needham 20 years and Newton 15 years.
Mrs. Redfern graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Fall River.
She was the former controller of Community Television with home offices in Laconia, N.H.
Mrs. Redfern summered in Orleans and was a boating and fishing enthusiast.
She is survived by two sons, John R. Jr. of Chatham and William B. of Needham; and six grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Bartholomew Church, Needham.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.

Edith W. (Barlow) Wood, 77, of 178 State Road West died Sunday in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a short illness.
Her husband of 48 years, Carroll K. Wood, died in 1986. She leaves two sons, Dennison C. Wood of Springdale, Ark., and Roderick L. Wood of Southwick; two daughters, Mary Ann Wallace of Springfield, Vt., and Beverly J. Paine of Westminster; a brother, John C. Barlow of Melrose, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Coventry, Vt., daughter of Clifford S. and Emma G. (Tiedeman) Barlow, and lived here 27 years.
Mrs. Wood was an active member of the Westminster Senior Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Westminster Chapel of Sawyer-Miller
Funeral Homes, 123 Main St. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. Albert F. Sheldon Sr., 62, of 13 Dresser St., a longtime maintenance mechanic, was stricken ill and died Tuesday in his home.
He leaves his wife of eight years, Constance A. (LeBoeuf) Sheldon; two sons, Brian L. Sheldon of Webster, N.H., and Albert F. Sheldon Jr. of Forest Hills, Calif.; three stepsons, Robert Bandlow of Palm Bay, Fla., James Bandlow of Orlando, Fla., and David Gauthier of Warner Robins, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Patricia LeCoeur of Palm Bay, Fla.; two brothers, Edward and Paul Sheldon, both of Northfield, N.H.; two sisters, Alice Robinson of Northfield, N.H., and Anne Shanahan of Newmarket, N.H.; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Dedham, son of William and Alice (Barlow) Sheldon, and was raised in Northfield, N.H. He lived here more than 37 years. He graduated from Tilton (N.H.) High School.
Mr. Sheldon was a maintenance mechanic for many years at American Optical Co. He was an
active member of the National Rifle Association. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Tilton, N.H. There are no calling hours. Smart Memorial Funeral Home, Tilton, is directing arrangements.November 22, 1994

Ian James Barlow of Dartmouth, a fifth-grade student at the DeMello School in South Dartmouth, died Saturday at the Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I., after a lengthy illness.
He was 10.
Born in New Bedford, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
Ian was a fifth-grade student at the DeMello School in South Dartmouth.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a member of the Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association, where he played soccer and baseball.
He is survived by his parents, Cynthia A. (O'Hara) and Gary Hamel, and James J., all of
Dartmouth; his grandparents, Christine and George O'Hara Jr. and Janet, all of Dartmouth,
George of New Bedford and Donald and Irene Hamel of Fairhaven; his great-grandparents,
George O'Hara Sr. and Barbara O'Hara, both of Dartmouth, Louis and Treva Paltrineri of
Holliston, and Sally Hamel of New Bedford; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.

Austin J. Barlow, 79, of 13 Hartley St. died yesterday in Hubbard Regional Hospital after an illness.
He leaves a sister, Olivette E. Gravel of Wilkinsonville; and a close friend, Mary A. Kryger of Webster, with whom he lived. He was born in Laconia, N.H., son of Henry and Rose (Stokes) Barlow, and lived here most of his life. He attended Commerce High School in Worcester.
Funeral services will be private. After cremation, burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Jeanette M. (Bartera) Barlow, 63, of 6 Rogers Ave., an office manager, died Saturday at home after a long illness.
She leaves her husband, Gerald M. Barlow; a son, Timothy Barlow of Milford; three daughters, Joan Bonina and Barbara Bruyere, both of Milford, and Judith A. Aliberti of Millville; her mother, Leona (Sabatucci) Bartera; a sister, Barbara Alberta, both of Milford; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Milford, daughter of Antonio Bartera, and lived here all her life. She graduated from Milford High School in 1949.
Mrs. Barlow was an office manager at WGB Construction Co. in Mendon for the past 11 years. She previously worked at Home National Bank.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Winter Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Milford, P.O. Box 122, Hopedale 01747; or to another charity.
