AUBURN
Claire E. (Barlow) Norton Swanstrom, 83, formerly of 14B Pakachoag Village and 101 South St., died Friday in the Life Care Center of Auburn.
Her husband, Rudolph N. Swanstrom, died in 1993. Her first husband, Clarence E. Norton, died in 1957. She leaves three daughters, Joan C. Dewsbury of Mashpee, Melba A. Laplante of Worcester and Linda J. Brennan of Auburn; two sisters, Florence M. Marold and Marjorie J. Long, both of Auburn; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Clarence W. and Ida E. (LaPearl) Barlow, and lived here most of her life.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Following cremation, burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. A calling hour is from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn District Nursing Association, 41 South St., Auburn 01501.

 BROOKFIELD
Raymond F. Cooney, 84, of 31 Kimball St., formerly of North Grafton, died Friday night at home after an illness.
His wife, Doris A. (Hutchins) Cooney, died in 1994. He leaves three daughters, Joyce C. Flint of Brookfield, Betsy A. Dempsey of Leicester and Shelby J. Perry of Wales; a brother, Charles F. Cooney Jr. of Winooski, Vt.; five sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Burlington, Vt., Helen Carlyle, Doris Fernandez and Bernice Cooney, all of Montpelier, Vt., and Janice Dunster of Waterbury Center, Vt.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Judith A. Soper of Spencer, died in 1988.
He was born in Middlesex, Vt., son of Charles F. and Dora M. (Barlow) Cooney, and lived 27 years in North Grafton and 10 years in Brookfield.
He was a truck driver for Branch Motor Express Co. in Shrewsbury for 20 years, retiring in 1972.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, Grafton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Field Fund, care of the Brookfield Recreation Committee, PO Box 397,  Brookfield 01506. Pillsbury Funeral Home, Old West Brookfield Road, is directing  arrangements.

MARLBORO
Greta A. (Carlquist) Delaney, 59, of 122 Wayside Inn Road, a childbirth education specialist and nurse, died Monday at University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, William H. Delaney; a son, William H. Delaney Jr. of Suffern, N.Y.; and a daughter, Katy Delaney of Marlboro.
She was born in Waltham, daughter of Carl and Rose (Barlow) Carlquist, and lived here for more than 30 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Maynard High School, a 1959 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a degree in English, and a 1962 graduate of Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, Boston.
She was director of childbirth education and a staff nurse in the labor and delivery unit at Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton. Previously, she was a nursing instructor at the former Hahnemann Hospital. She was certified in childhood education-inpatient obstetrics.
She was a member of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing  and the Massachusetts Nurses Association. She was associated with Dr. Lamaze and Lamaze childbirth education. She was an avid runner, completing nine consecutive Boston Marathons.
The funeral will be held Saturday from John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., with a
service at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

ASHBURNHAM
Gail B. (Barlow) Buckler, 52, of 41 Winchendon Road, died yesterday in Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg.
She leaves her husband of 33 years, William A. Buckler; a son, Kevin J. Buckler of Westminster; and a daughter, Patricia L. Buckler of York, Pa.
She was born in Peterboro, N.H., daughter of Hubert and Ada (Richards) Barlow, and lived in Greenville and Newport, N.H., before moving to Ashburnham in 1969.
Mrs. Buckler was a substitute teacher, working at Oakmont Regional High School and Overlook Middle School. She also worked in the library at Oakmont. Previously, she worked at GFA Federal Credit Union. She enjoyed ceramics, tole painting and travel, and was an avid reader.
Family and friends will gather from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon, followed by a remembrance beginning at 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in the springtime in New Cemetery. DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.
Irving B. Tower, 88, of 1113 Clearwater Road died yesterday in the Clyatts Nursing Home after a short illness.
His wife, Eleanor H. (Little) Tower, died in 1984. He leaves two sons, Raymond B. Tower of Lunenburg and David M. Tower of Rindge; his longtime companion, Carmella Ortlip of Daytona Beach; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Lunenburg, son of Harry and Louise (Barlow) Tower. He attended Lunenburg schools.
Mr. Tower owned Tower Tire Service in Fitchburg and retired in 1970. He was a member of the Charles W. Moore Lodge of Masons in Fitchburg and the Shriners for 50 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed fishing. He was a New Hampshire licensed fishing guide on Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire during the '50s and summered on Lake Sunapee during the '60s and Lake Winnipesaukee during the '70s and '80s.
The funeral service is private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

WORCESTER
Angelia E. (Woodward) Earielo, 72, of 1050 Main St. died Friday in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
Her husband, Umberto M. Earielo, died in 1990. She leaves two sons, James D. Shaw of Shrewsbury and Timothy W. Shaw of Auburn; four daughters, Victoria A. Marrero and Rosemary De Courcy, both of Worcester, Susan J. McDaniels of Stoughton and Mary A. Legere of Spencer; two sisters, Gwendolyn Snickers of Worcester and Madge Class in New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Sandra J. Earielo of
Worcester, died in 1974.
She was born in Swanzey, N.H., daughter of Benson and Harriet (Barlow) Woodward, and lived here 50 years.
Mrs. Earielo was treasurer of the 1050 Club and an avid bingo player.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 9 Hammond St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m.

Dr. Joseph Barlow of Duxbury, a retired research professor, died May 4. He was 70.
He was born in Malden and graduated from Tufts University in 1948 and received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1952.
He had medical residencies at the Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. When he retired, he moved to Duxbury.
Dr. Barlow was co-chief of staff at Boston Hospital for Women, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School, chief of the department of gynecology at Roswell Park Cancer Center, research professor of obstetrics and gynecology at State University of New York in Buffalo. He was a pioneer in the development of a blood test for the detection of ovarian cancer and devised various novel therapeutic regimens for its
treatment. He wrote more than 150 journal articles dealing primarily with gynecologic cancer.
He loved fishing, clamming, lobstering and painting in watercolors.
Dr. Barlow is survived by his wife, Dr. Lillian (Pothier) of Duxbury; a son, Anders Johnson of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, Lewis of Duxbury; a grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held.
