Thomas Mendenhall (1759-1843), served as a sailor, 1765, on the frigate "Nancy" to procure arms and ammunition at neutral islands for his destitute country.  When tidings came to Puerto Rico that independence was declared, he made a flag for the homeward voyage of the brig, the first American flag raised in a foreign port.

Enoch Wood (1763-1847) at the age of sixteen volunteered; was captured and confined in Canada two years.
He located his grant of land in New York, where he received a pension.
He was born in Sharon, Connecticut; died in Camillus, N.Y.
Nathan Bennett served as ensign in the regiment of guards raised to defend the State, 1777. He was born, 1746

Jabez Hill (1744-79) commanded a company, 1774, of the 2nd "Troop of Horse," 4th regiment, and in 1777 was promoted major, 3rd regiment of "Light Horse," and took part in the defense of Danbury.
He was born in Fairfield; died in Weston, Connecticut
William Grant (1741-1825) enlisted, 1775, as a private; served, 1778, in the Rhode Island campaign and, 1781, under Capt. John Avery.
In 1782 he served as a mariner on the ship "Tartar."  His pension was allowed the widow in 1848 for fourteen months' service as a private and mariner.   He was born in Torrington, Connecticut; died in Neversink

Robert Joyner (1725-1802) enlisted, 1776, as a private in Capt. Ephraim Fitch's company, Col. Hopkins' Berkshire County regiment, and, 1777, in Capt. John King's company, Col. John Brown's regiment.   He was born in Connecticut; died in Egremont, Massachusetts

Jared Ingersoll (1757-1822) enlisted, 1777, as a private in Capt. Job Wood- bridge's company, Col. John Brown's Berkshire County regiment.
