Note from Susan Guthrie, a descendant of Alonzo Barlow:   
His wife, Kate, was Kate Campbell Light, daughter of George Campbell Light. I would suggest that 73 year old Ann "Sight" should really be Ann Light, Kate's mother.  He did not run a boarding house, but I cannot identify the Starling family as relatives, though they may be relatives via Kate Light.  I suspect also that Sarah Tomlinson may well have been a maid.  As Dennis Starling was a bookkeeper according to this census, he MIGHT have been an employee of Alonzo Daniel Barlow, who was in a comfortable financial position in 1860.  I wish we knew Virginia Starling's maiden name. The Civil War and its aftermath ruined Alonzo financially - he mustered $4,000.00, planted cotton 2 or 3 years running, but was unable to sell for anything like the price cotton had been bringing before and during the war.  He had to take bankruptcy, which galled him no end and he was never able to recover financially.
