Pryor Talley Berry and Elizabeth "Betsy" Myers

10.
Prior / Pryor Talley Berry3   (John2, John1) was born March 06, 1816 in South Carolina, and died February 23, 1886 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.

He married  Elizabeth "Betsy" Myers  on March 17, 1836 in Lawrence County, Mississippi in Lawrence Co Mississippi. The daughter of Isaac Myers and Gracie Leah/Lee Butler, she was born December 09, 1820 in Lawrence Co Mississippi, and died February 28, 1889 in Simpson Co Mississippi.

Both are buried in  Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

From "Schools and Berry’s in Southwest Simpson County" by Rev. Glenn D. Shows:
Pryor and Betsy were both  very large and it was said that together they weighed 500 pounds. Pryor affiliated, in 1853, with the Westville Lodge No. 78 of  the Masons, located where Pinola is  today.  After the Civil War, Pryor moved his family by wagon to Texas where relatives had already moved.  They moved around for a year, but Pryor was very particular and didn't  find any  place  that he liked better than the place they had left in Mississippi.  They returned, but two of his daughters remained  in Texas and married there.

Simpson County Bits:    Pryor T. Berry developed a seed corn that is still used.

*Hanson is a son of  William and Sarah  but I am unsure of who William Berry is.   He may also be a son of Wm,  but is not counted in the  enumeration of 1840.   I was unable to locate Hanson in the 1870 census, but found a William who may be the same, the ages match, and he lives very near to Prior Tally Berry

Children of Prior Berry and Elizabeth Myers is:

The name  and surname of  spouse  may be  in conflict here, and  these may be  the same person. Searching  the 1870 census  records  surround her parents and siblings, and  also using soundex for the  entire state of Mississippi,  I  have been unable to locate  a  record  to  identify this family.   She is apparently one of the daughters who remained in Texas.

89 vi Gracie Edia Ann Berry  born cDecember 1849 or January 1850, and apparently died before 1860 *
In 1850 census,  is  listed Gracie Edia Ann Berry, age 8 mo, but  George is  not  listed.  However, in  1860, George is listed as 10 years old, while  Gracie is no longer listed ...  perhaps they were twins.  I have seen census records where their are known to be twins, and only one is listed. Neither has been located in 1870.

90 vii. George E.  Berry  Checking all George Berry's in Mississippi for 1870, none fit with his criteria.
+91 viii.
Benjamin Franklin Berry  born September 15, 1853, and died January 22, 1929, burial in Harrisville Cemetery Simpson Co Mississippi
+92 ix.
John Jackson Berry  born c1856-57, and  died in September 1907
Note: Since Andrew J. is only 4 in the 1860 census, and John is not listed, and in 1870 census he is then listed as age 13, I believe these to be the same.
