       While all researchers agree that his name was indeed Elijah, some show him as H. Elijah and others shown him as Elijah J. Thurman.

  Other researchers have shown that both  Sally and Elijah are deceased by 1855, but I have found no official record of 
  their deaths.  That deduction probably comes because they are not found in the 1860 census of Mississippi.

  Elijah is enumerated in the 1820 Marion Co Mississippi  federal census   Census Image
  It appears they have 5 children under the age of 10, and they are both under 26 years of age.

  I have been unable to locate Elijah and Sally in any Mississippi census records for 1830
  The only Thurman I can find in 1830 is Philip Thurman, age 70-80 in the Claiborne Co census.

Estus D. Waltman, 1888-1972  married Ava Berry, daughter of Monroe Franklin Berry and Lorena Madagascar Berry. 
Ava was born in September 1891, and died in January 1977.     Both are buried in the Newhebron Cemetery, Lawrence Co Mississippi.  They had no children.

  work.  It is said that he met  a  woman  he  wanted  to marry, so  he divorced

    The  following  two   families,   that  of  Daniel Thurman  and  Manson  Thurman  has  given  me  a  lot of  confusion, 
    perhaps someone has an explanation for this.
*
   All of  the records of  other researchers  that I  have found  shows  that Daniel  was married  Celesti,   and   Manson
   married  Martha,  however,  the 1870  census of  Mt.  Zion, Simpson Co Mississippi  makes me question that.
*
   I'm not sure what  to make of  these census  records,  it  appears  that  the census  taker may have  gotten off on the
   numbering, and it was  redone by  someone else,  and both  were  turned in  to the government,  but regardless,  the
   outcome is the same as far as the names of the husband and spouse.
*
   One  note though,  when it was redone,   they either  added  or omitted a child,  Elizar  Thurman, my  guess would be
   that  Elizar was omitted so that subsequent pages would not have to be redone :)  The initial J was also moved from
  Nancy to Martha, or  vice-versa.  The  duplicate  page 284  is done in  a different   handwriting  than  the rest  of  the 
  census.
