William Berry  w /  P. Myers & Sarah Boomer

 5.

William Berry 3  (John2, John1)   born 1802, and died January 22, 1842 of yellow fever, near Oakvale on Whitesand Creek.

He married 1.)  P. Myers

He married 2.)  Sarah Boomer, she died about the same time as William, also of yellow fever

Sources include: Bible record of Abner W. Berry Family, and of Elijah Bishop, Sr. / does anyone have a copy of Elisha's Bible?

The record here will have to depend completely on researchers work, with no names given in the 1840 census, it would be impossible  to determine the children of William ... and even the names  given by  researchers are questionable,  noting that only one daughter is  enumerated in 1840, and she is not accounted for among those given by researchers.   I do not know if a record exists for the estate of  William and Sarah, which might  give names of their children,  but am told the Elijah Bishop Bible might help,  at least with the daughter,  Louisa, but I have been unable to locate a copy of that record either.

William is living next to his brothers, John & Henry in Simpson Co in 1840

A male son under 5, that may be the William, shown as age 13,  in the household of Prior Talley in 1850,  along with Hanson Berry, age 20.   The male, shown here as age 20-30 is not  likely to be Hanson,  he is just 20 in 1850 ... so the question of where he is at is also unanswered.

The female under 5 would most likely be Ann, but I don't have a clue where the other girls might be. If it is true that William and Sarah both died in 1842, they may have already been in bad health at the time of this census, and thus the children would be living in homes of relatives.

One  record shows that William married only 20 days before his death date, which I will assume to  be  incorrect, as the census record shows children  living  in the  home, Estate recorded in Lawrence Co Vol IV, p 6--61, Prior T. Berry, administrator - a copy of this document might answer some of the questions as to what became of this family after the death of their parents.

Elisha was my gggrandfather.  His wife was Louisa Berry.  Denson Denro Bishop was one of his sons (my ggrandfather) and his daughter, Mattie was my maternal grandmother.

Elisha and Louisa are buried in the Elliot Cemetery, Elliot, Robertson Co Tx.  We have visited the cemetery several times and it's full of Bishops.  My grandmother, Mattie married a Crouch and they are buried at Bryan, but there are a lot of Crouch's & Bishop's at Mt. Vernon and in the Franklin Cemetery.

According to researchers, the following children are those of William and Sarah:

+33 i.
Louisa Berry*4, born December 02, 1830 in Mississippi, and died August 12, 1884 in Elliott, Franklin Co Texas, burial in Elliott Cemetery
  34 ii.
Hanson / Harrison Berry born July 18, 1831  (Abner W. Berry Bible)
On taking a second look at "Hanson" in the Abner Wilkes Berry Bible record, I wonder if he might not be "Harrison", perhaps Wm Harrison.
+35 iii. Susannah / Susan Berry born December 06, 1832  (Abner W. Berry Bible)
36 iv. Elizabeth Berry born 1834
  37 v. Ann Jane / June Berry born 1836

*Note: Ann points out that there are only 7 months between Louise and Hanson, thus one of their birthdates must be in error. Louisa's birth is from tombstone inscriptions, Hanson's from Bible records. It may be that a tombstone inscription was transcribed wrong, or even that the birthdate of Hanson was in error in the Bible record, since it is obvious that the dates were added "at a later date", noting the dates are on top of the death page.

I think there may have been a son, William, who is shown as age 13, in the household of Prior Talley Berry, along with Hanson in the 1850 census.

Hanson and Susannah's dates of births are recorded in the Wilkes - Berry Bible, on the top edge of the page, apart from their own children's births. It does not state that these are children of William, that information comes from researchers, and I know of no way to prove their parentage.    If these are indeed children of William, then I would assume that William and Richard had a close relationship, and thus it makes me wonder if the Harrison Berry, aged 18, found in Richard Talley Berry's home in 1850, may also be a son of William Berry.  One researcher tells us that Hanson and Susan were raised by Richard Talley Berry, but I think that may be based on the fact that their births are shown in his Bible record.

I was unable to locate Hanson in the 1870 census, but found a William who may be the same, the ages match, and he lives very near to Prior Tally Berry
