ALBERT S.3 BUFKIN (Benjamin Franklin2, Josiah1), son of Benjamin Franklin Bufkin and Celia Lewis, was born February 22, 1818 in Georgetown District, Prince George Parish, South Carolina, and died May 27, 1880 in Copiah Co Mississippi.

He married EMALINE3 BARLOW (Henry2, John1) on April 29, 1841 in Copiah Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Henry 'Buck' Barlow and Charity Millsaps, she was born January 28, 1823 in Copiah Co Mississippi and died December 18, 1871 in Copiah Co Mississippi.

Emmaline and Albert are both buried in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Copiah Co Mississippi

AMANTHUS JONES BUFKIN, born June 1846, and died March 1890, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi  (Not shown in any census)

HENRY RUFUS BUFKIN, born January 04, 1847, (September 1851 in 1900 census) and died January 14, 1914, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi.     He never married.

In 1870, at age 21, he is living with James and Catherine Weeks, in Copiah Co Mississippi, where he 'works on the farm'

HARMON LOUIS BUFKIN, born October 02, 1849, and died August 02, 1890, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.     He never married.

In 1880, H.L. Bufkin is 32, a farmer, living in the home of T.J. and Sallie L. Dumas in Copiah Co Mississippi.

In the 1900 and 1910 census, Kate is the daughter of Francis M. Bufkin

BETTIE BUFKIN, born 1852.  (March 1860, 1900 census)    She never married.   She lived with Henry until his death in 1914.  I could not find her on a 1920 census, she too, may be deceased.

CHARITY 'SWEET' BUFKIN, born September 15, 1853, (August 1863, 1900 census) and died December 21, 1903, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.   She never married, and lived with Henry until her death.

2. FRANCIS MARION 'FRANK'4 BUFKIN, born March 1841, and died August 1890, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi.

He married MARTHA BONDURANT    (according to researchers records)   However, in both census records found, he is married to SARAH A.   She, too, may have died or remarried before 1900, as I could not find her in a census record

CELIA ST. CLAIR 'CLARA' BUFKIN, born January 06, 1873, and died November 10, 1884, from being burned, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi.

In 1880, Joseph, age 20, is a farm laborer, the nephew of Harmon F. and Elizabeth Barlow Bufkin.    I could not find Sallie or the children from 1900-1920.  Perhaps she remarried and the census taker put the children under her husband's name.

4. URBEN / ERBIN4 BUFKIN, born June 21, 1863 in Browns Wells, Copiah Co Mississippi, and died July 09, 1908 in Copiah Co Mississippi, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi

He married 1) PEARL STUART September 22, 1892 in Hazelhurst, Copiah Co Mississippi She was born February 02, 1870 (May 1870 in 1900 census) in Ohio and died November 01, 1955 in Brown Wells, Copiah Co Mississippi, burial in Old Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi   In 1910, Pearl is shown as widowed, and though Urben is deceased, it would appear she and Urban had divorced, if he had remarried to Frances Goza, at least according to my family records

According to family records:  He married 2) FRANCES MARION GOZA February 20, 1901 in Copiah Co Mississippi, daughter of Benjamin Goza and Emmaline Bufkin. She was born November 22, 1869 in Copiah Co Mississippi and died March 31, 1933 in Magnolia, Pike Co Mississippi, her burial place unknown. She had previously been married to Joseph Casey Cambell, who died in 1896.

According to my family records, the last 3 children were mothered by Frances, but I will have to disagree with that, seeing that they are in the home with Pearl S. Bufkin in 1910 and 1920, shown as her children.  Since these children were all born after the date of his supposed marriage to Frances, I believe that marriage may be in error.  I could not locate Frances, under Campbell or Bufkin in a 1910 census to verify her name.

At least one record showed that Urben had been married prior to Pearl, to OLLY NORWOOD and one record shows that he was first married to M.E. ROBINSON

In Memory of Urben Bufkin On the morning of July 09, 1908, there passed from earth to its eternal reward the bright pure, Spirit of Mr. Urben Bufkin. His death had not been unexpected as during the past year his relatives had grown apprehensive and had watched him with unceasing anxiety, yet no matter how long expected, the end came quickly and without great warning. Urbin Bufkin was born on the 21 of June 1863. He was the youngest son of Albert Bufkin and Emeline Barlow Bufkin. He leaves a wife, four daughters, four sons, brother and sister to mourn his death, yet we should not complain of the divine dispensation in his removal, knowing that God's ways are always right, and love is over all. There's a bright Celestial city - Where no curse shall ever be, - From before whose shining portal, Sin and pain and death shall flee. - Through its gates no evil enters, - Nor the dismal shades of night, Clearer than a cloudless noon-tide - Is its never fading light. - Earth and hope thus picture heaven And its blessedness portrays - Where no shadow dims the luster - Of its glad eternal day. In that home of all the ransomed - Where our loved ones, gone before; - Wait with outstretched hand to greet us, We shall meet to part no more.     K.F.B.B.

5. HOLLAND 'HOLLY' EMALINE BORDURANT5 BUFKIN, born 1868, and died 1956, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi

She married G.P. / A.G. / AUGUSTA 'GUS' NORWOOD on November 30, 1888 in Claiborne Co Mississippi. (Marriage Records, Circuit Clerk, Claiborne Co Mississippi)  He was born November 25, 1868 and died October 30, 1936, burial in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Barlow, Copiah Co Mississippi

I could not find them in a 1900 census

MARY MINTHUS / MAE6 NORWOOD, born August 22, 1892, and died January 26, 1961, burial in Pine Bluff Cemetery, Dentville, Copiah Co Mississippi
She married ROBERT JEFFERSON NORWOOD, on September 02, 1915 in Copiah Co Mississippi, after the death of his first wife, Rebecca Permelia Kirkley. The son of John Jefferson Norwood and Anne Beatrice Price, he was born May 18, 1861, and died November 08, 1941, burial in Willis Cemetery, Claiborne Co Mississippi.     (Note, he is 31 years older than she, and my question is, is there a relationship besides marriage between these two?)

6. JOSEPH ALBERT5 BUFKIN, born March 28, 1870, (1871 in 1900 census) and died January 22, 1943.

He married MATTIE E. ROBINSON on December 30, 1891 in Copiah Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Young Robertson and Mary Jane McIntosh, she was born c1870, and died April 17, 1894.  After her death, Joseph married her older sister, MARGARET ALICE ROBINSON, about 1902.  She was born c1858, and died after 1920.

He married FANNIE EVERETTE on December 19, 1915 in Delta City Mississippi, the daughter of Ben Everette and Agnes Ellington.

7. MARY ELIZABETH 'BETTIE'5 BUFKIN, born March 17, 1877 in Copiah Co Mississippi, and died May 02, 1931 in Leland, Washington Co Mississippi.

She married JOHN LINCOLN TURNIPSEED, December 22, 1893 in Browns Wells, Copiah Co Mississippi. The son of David Burns Turnipseed and Permilia J. Moore, he was born February 29, 1864 in Claiborne Co Mississippi and died October 17, 1955 in Hazelhurst, Copiah Co Mississippi

10. HENRIETTA R. 'HENRY'5 BUFKIN, born March 23, 1881 in Copiah Co Mississippi

She married EDDIE JEFFERSON MCBRIDE. The son of William Bennett McBride and Belinda Black, he was born October 12, 1873 in Rankin Co Mississippi, and died December 19, 1940 in Copiah Co Mississippi

14. SAMUEL LOUIS5 BUFKIN, born August 23, 1886 in Copiah Co Mississippi, and died December 14, 1937 in Auburn, Lincoln Co Mississippi

He married MIRIAM FRANCES CARRUTH on December 30, 1916 in McComb, Pike Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Joseph Enoch Carruth and Mary Ada King, she was born December 26, 1899 in Auburn, Lincoln Co Mississippi.

An Allene Sheley Denman is buried beside Joseph with a double stone, she could not have been his wife I don't think, her dates are way off. Probably an aunt October 26, 1898 - November 10, 1968
