He married JULIA ANN SAMANTHA GUYNES/GUINES in 1862.  The daughter of John Guynes and Susan Mullican, she was born December 24, 1848 and died May 02, 1933. She is buried beside her husband in the Harrisville Cemetery.

SUSAN FRANCES HILTON5, born November 26, 1866 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi and died December 03, 1932 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.

SOPHRINIA ELIZABETH HILTON, born 06 December 1872 in Mississippi, and died 31 October 1906 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  
She married JAMES FRANKLIN BERRY on November 21, 1895 in Simpson Co Mississippi. The son of Benjamin Franklin Berry and Flora Ann Barlow, he was born Octpber 17, 1884 in Mississippi, and died April 04, 1923 in Mississippi.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.  For more on this family, click on his name.

ACY D. HILTON, born February 21, 1883, and died May 16, 1927, burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.
He married LENA perhaps Sorrells, about 1898, and they apparently had no children.

EUNICE B. HILTON, born November 01, 1886 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi and died February 06, 1970 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi, burial Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi. Apparently she never married.

WILLIAM PATRICK HILTON4 (William Isaac3, William2, Mr.1), son of William Isaac Hilton and Sarah Amanda Pearson, was born April 17, 1849, and died December 16, 1917 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi, the attending Dr. was Wilk N. Neely and the undertaker was L.M. Barlow, burial was in Harrisville Cemetery, apparently in an unmarked grave.

He married 1) ALMEDA / AMANDA BARLOW, December 19, 1873 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  The daughter of George Washington Barlow and Flora Ann Byrd, she was born c1856, and died c1882, burial place unknown.

He married 2) WINNIFRED JOSEPHINE 'JOSIE' BULLOCK, October 08, 1885, Simpson Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Zachariah Bullock and Nancy (Harper?), she was born April 25, 1853, and died, June 29, 1936, burial for Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.

FLORA AMANDA HILTON, born August 30, 1874 and died July 24, 1931 in Simpson Co Mississippi.

In 1900, Washington Hilton, age 24, is living with the Andrew J. and Martha Keen family in Simpson Co Mississippi
In 1910, W.W. Hilton, age 30 is living with H.B. and Flora A. Maddox in Simpson Co Mississippi.    I could not locate him in 1920.

LUTHER WESLEY HILTON, born January 24, 1879 in Magee Simpson Co Mississippi and died February 15, 1954 in Mitchell, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. 

SOLOMON A. HILTON4 (William Isaac3, William2, Mr.1) son of William Isaac Hilton and Sarah Amanda Pearson, was born April 29, 1851 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi, and died December 19, 1912 in Desoto Parish Louisiana.

He married SARAH EDA LOFLIN on August 08, 1872 in Rankin Co Mississippi, daughter of Daniel Loflin and Rosannah Lowe. She was born July 19, 1855 in Rankin Co Mississippi and died February 20, 1936 in Desoto Parish Louisiana.    Sarah and Solomon are both buried in Bethel Cemetery, Desoto Parish, Louisiana.    (In 1930, Sarah, age 74 lives with her daughter Manila Grantham.)

I was unable to locate them in an 1880 census, though Dr. Hilton showed them to have been in Georgia at that time and having borned 2 children in that state.

A wise and due consideration of our letter and is neither to render us sad, melancholy disconsolate, or unfit for the business and offices of life but to make us more watchful, vigilant, industrious, sober, cheerful and thankful to that God who hath been pleased thus to make us serviceable to him; conscience, an honest heart, and a well-ordered conversation, to carry the thoughts of dying men about us and so to live before we die as we shall wish we had when we come to it - Norris

One of the saddest deaths to occur lately was the passing away of Mr. S.A. Hilton, a prominent farmer, a highly esteemed citizen and one more of the old ex-confederates, who recieved the final summons last Friday night very suddenly and unexpectedly, retiring at night without complaint and death overtaking him before day.

Mr. Hilton was laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery the following day, the funeral being conduted by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. A large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends was present.

Mr. Hilton leaves a wife and a number of children to mourn his sudden death, besides a multitude of friends who drop a sympathetic tear with the bereft family in their sad loss, because a good man has been called to the home beyond the skies. We are sad but not so sad as those who have no hope.

Mrs. Sarah E. Hilton, 81 years old, who passed away at her home in the Bethel community Thursday, February 20, after a lingering illness, was laid to rest Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock in the cemetery adjoining the Bethel Methodist church which she and her husband built more than thirty years ago, and which has served the community as a place of worship for all denominations through the years.

Mrs. Hilton and her husband, S.A. Hilton, who passed away several years ago, moved to this country from Mississippi more than fifty years ago and homesteaded in the Bethel community, where they reared a large family of children, five of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Manila Grantham, and Isaac, Pat Wightman and Marvin, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the church she helped to build, and were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. J.F. Wilson

ELISHA HILTON, born January 15, 1888 or 1889 in Desoto Parish Louisiana, and died June 13, 1930.
He married AILIE 'BIG MAMA' RAILEY on March 11, 1920 in Desoto Parish Louisiana. She was born 23 September 1891, and died 24 September 1991.   Elisha and Ailie are buried in Bethel Cemetery, near Logansport, Desoto Parish Louisiana.  Allie had previously been married and had a son, W.J. Stillwell, shown in the 1930 census.

THOMAS WESLEY HILTON4, (William Isaac3, William2, Mr.1) son of William Isaac Hilton and Sarah Amanda Pearson, was born September 17, 1855 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi, and died December 02, 1937 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.

He married 1) Unknown.   One researcher shows his first wife to be Amanda Pearson, but since his mother is Sarah Amanda Pearson, I believe the researcher is mistaken.
He married 2) NANCY E. KELLEY before July 1887 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.   The daughter of Isiah Kelley and Permelia J. Hornsby, she was born August 02, 1869, and died January 01, 1957.  Both she and Thomas are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi.   (Nancy is at home with her parents, age 11 in the 1880 census) 
Marriage records show T.W. Hilton married Miss M.J. Kelley on 21 Dec 1878 in Simpson Co Mississippi, while another record shows T.N. Hilton married Nancy Kelley on 02 Jan 1890 in Simpson Co Mississippi

She married TURNER KEEN.  The son of James Keen and his wife Martha, he was born 14 February 1888 in Mississippi, and died 04 Deember 1965

JEFFERSON HILTON, born February 1897 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  I could not locate him in a 1930 census, unless he is Tom J. Hilton, age 33 in Lawrence Co Mississippi, married to EMMA, with 4 daughters:  AGNESS, age 8; BILLIE, age 7; EFFIE, age 4; and JESSIE L., age 1

ALONZO 'A.L.' HILTON, born 1867 in Harrisville, Simpson Co Mississippi, and died in 05 April 1924.  

He married SALISA / CELESTIA ARTEMIS THURMAN on 21 December 1890 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Daniel Thurman and Celesti Hall or of Daniels' brother, Mansfield Thurman and Martha Garrett, she was born 12 October 1869 in Simpson Co Mississippi, and died May 1958 in Sabine Parish Louisiana.   Both are buried in Mitchell Cemetery, Sabine Parish Louisiana

LUCILLE VESTA HILTON, born 16 August 1893 in Mississippi, and died 01 December 1965.
She married MARTIN SEBA WALLACE on 01 December 1909 in Rankin Co Mississippi. The son of Franklin J. Wallace and Julia Watson, he was born 22 July 1886, and died 22 October 1968 in Oak Grove, West Carroll, Louisiana

WILEY H. HILTON, born c1896 in Mississippi.  In 1920, Sabine Parish Louisiana, Wiley is age 24, married to HATTIE, age 18, and they have a 1 yr old daughter, RUBIE L., but I could not locate them in a 1930 census.

MYRTLE MAY HILTON, born 05 Mar 1902 in Florence, Rankin Co Mississippi, and died 29 April 1989 in Mitchell, Sabine, Louisiana

THOMAS W. HILTON4 (James3,William2, Mr.1) son of John James Hilton and Mary Taylor was born April 1856 in Mississippi, and died February 02, 1928, probably in Lincoln Co Mississippi.

He married ARZETIA M. c1879.   She was born November 1864 in Mississippi, and may have died between 1910 and 1920.  Tom married FRANCES E. SASSER on 24 February 1913 in Lincoln Co Mississippi

In the 1910 census, Frances E. Sasser was a widow with these children in the home of her mother, Celia Red in Lincoln Co Mississippi.  

JEFFERSON WILLIAM / WILLIAM JEFFERSON 'WILL' HILTON 4 (James3,William2, Mr.1) son of John James Hilton and Mary Taylor was born April 1864 in Mississippi, and died 1908 in Mississippi.   I can't help but think that the son, William J. may have the same name, reversed, and that perhaps Wm. died in the Civil War and they named another child for him.

He married SARAH VASHTI COKER in 1883.  The daughter of Gallant Coker and Mary Simpson, she was born February 1864, and died c1945.

JESSE ALFRED LAMB4, (Elizabeth3,William2, Mr.1) son of Elizabeth Charlotte Hilton and Jacob Lamb, was born 01 May 1843 in Hazelhurst, Copiah Co Mississippi, and died 05 March 1898 in New Boston, Bowie Co Texas.  According to his son Isom, he is buried in Antioch Cemetery, Queen City, Cass Co Texas

He married 2) NANCY ANN COOK on 28 November 1869 in Grimes Co Texas.   She was born in 1848, Grimes Co Texas
He married 3) EMMA ALICE JONES on August 06, 1873 in Coryell Co Texas    The daughter of Andrew F. Jones and Susan M. Kearby, she was born 02 September 1855 in Mexico, Audrain Co Missouri, and died 28 November 1925 in San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co California

The family of Jesse Lamb and Emma Jones was contributed by Dixie Lamb Perkinson, who gives her sources as LDS Library in SLC and personally from some of the included siblings below before their deaths. She also adds: I have just finished a Lamb Family photo album with pictures of all the Lamb siblings except: Nancy Ann, Francis Marion and Willa Estelle. It was compiled from pictures and articles my father and mother collected during their lifetime. Of course, the latter half of the album is the section on my father Isom Richard Lamb which involves about ½ the 130 pages. *Isom Lamb tried to find his father, Jesse's grave in 1956. The cemetery was very poorly cared for with most of the grave markers either missing or unreadable. The area was mostly overgrown with weeds.

ISHAM B. LAMB4, (Elizabeth3,William2, Mr.1) son of Elizabeth Charlotte Hilton and Jacob Lamb, was born 30 September 1851 in Mississippi, and died 09 December 1930 in Cisco, Eastland Co Texas, burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Cisco, Eastland Co Texas.  He was a Minister of Gospel in the 1880 census.

He married 1) SARAH CATHERINE THOMPSON on 14 August 1876.    She was born 04 May 1854 in Denton, Denton Co Texas, and died before the 1920 census.  
He married 2) ELIZABETH SAURES on 21 February 1921.   She was born 1822 in Tennessee  (1930 census shows her birth as Wisconsin, father born in Switzerland and mother in Kentucy.

He married 2) S. LULA SIMPSON on 12 December 1906 in Hamilton Co Texas.   The daughter of W.M. Simpson and his wife Nancy, she was born September 1869, and died 18 May 1934 in Hamilton Co Texas.    She had previously been married to an Allen but was widowed before 1900.

REBECCA ANN LAMB4, (Elizabeth3,William2, Mr.1) daughter of Elizabeth Charlotte Hilton and Jacob Lamb, was born 24 March 1859 in Mississippi, and died 28 October 1916 in Cross Plains, Callahan Co Texas  -twin to Isaac-

HENRY B. TAYLOR4 (Emeline3,William2, Mr.1) son of Emeline [Sarah] Hilton and John Madison Taylor, was born 1838 in Simpson Co Mississippi, [1900 census shows August 1832] and died October 12, 1904, burial in Narvle R. Barlow Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.

He married ADELINE S.    She was born August 1847 and may have died between 1910 and 1920, as I could not locate her in a 1920 census.

HENRIETTA TAYLOR, born c1872 or 1876 in Mississippi, and died December 1949 in Stuckeytown on the Luther Barlow place, burial is in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.
She married WILLIAM RICE, who was killed by a neighbor before the 1910 census.

He married MARGARETT.  She was born May 1849, [1900 census]  (Tombstone dates transcribed as November 29, 1849 - July 08 1935, both she and James are buried in Holly Grove Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.    I did not locate them in a 1930 census

EUGENE TAYLOR5, born May 1870 in Mississippi.
He married BETTIE PEACOCK on 12 December 1895 in Simpson CO Mississippi.  She was born December 1874.

He married NANCY MATILDA MAHAFFEY in February 1866 in Mississippi.   The daughter of John T. Mahaffey and Mary Lowe, she born March 03, 1840 or 1841 in Simpson or Lawrence Co Mississippi and died May 04, 1928, burial in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Sabine Parish Louisiana.

JULIA ANN TAYLOR5, born 20 January 1867 in Mississippi, and died 1915 in Sabine Parish Louisiana.   She married WILLIAM JACKSON POWELL JR.

She married CADE EMMETT LEACH.  The son of James M. Leach and Nancy Francis, he was born 04 May 1881 in Sabine Parish Louisiana, and died 29 May 1950 in Sabine Parish Lousiana

NATHANIEL GREEN HILTON4, (Thomas Norvell3, William2, Mr.1) son of Thomas Norvell Hilton and Sarah Garraway, was born in 1849 in Mississippi, and died May 1872 in Mississippi.

He married LORENDA BRIDGES before 1869, daughter of Benjamin Bridges and Mary Strong. Lorenda was born October 12, 1842 in Mississippi, and died November 30, 1912 in Forrest Co Mississippi.
I do not have a burial place for either Nathaniel or Lorinda at this time. Lorinda was married prior to being married to Green, and I believe 2 or 3 times after the death of Green.   Contact Bill Waller for more information

Grace and William, I feel sure are from a previous marriage, apparently there was some misunderstanding on the census taker's part about Nathaniel's name also.

He married ALLIE E. TUCKER on November 13, 1884 in Simpson Co Mississippi.   The daughter of Murphy Tucker and his wife Josephine, she was born November 07, 1864, and died July 13, 1932.  Both are buried in Rexford Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

In 1870, he, age 20, and Thomas G., age 18, are in Utica, Hinds Co Mississippi, living in the home of Wm. G. and Theresa Terrell, were they are employed as farm laborers.
I could not locate them from 1910 forward.

She apparently died before 1900, at which time Henry is married to EMMA W.  The 1900 census shows Emma to have borned 3 children, all living, and since Sallie is her daughter, I would assume the last 2 Hilton children will be her's also.

ALMEDIA 'MEDER' HILTON4 (Humphrey3,William2, Mr.1) daughter of Humphrey Carroll Hilton and Sarah A., was born September 1867 in Mississippi, and died before 1910.

She married WILLIAM D. TOUCHSTONE on 06 January 1886 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  He was born November 1867 in Mississippi.  I was not able to locate him on an earlier census to identify his parents.  After the death of Almedia, he married SAMANTHA before 1910.

In 1910, Wm is married to Samantha, his second marriage, for 7 years.  Children with Media included on that census are: Ella, age 19, Umphrey, age 14, and Emma, age 11.  He has 2 children with Samantha: Ola and Clara.

Stephen shows a William Orion Hilton born 01 Nov 1884, and died 27 January 1886, burial in Ehrhardt Cemetary, Houston, Harris Co Texas as a son of Leander, and he may be, as according to the 1900 census, they did lose one child, but it seems curious to me that they would name a second son William.

THOMAS JEFFERSON HILTON4, (William O.3,Thomas2,Mr.1) son of William Oliver Hilton and Nancy Ann Loper, was born 18 July 1853 in Mississippi, and died 21 July 1932 in Dallas, Dallas Co Texas

He married PERANDA 'PRANDY' COTTLE FAIRCLOTH on 09 January 1879 in Polk Co Texas.  The daughter of Thomas Didymus Faircloth and Elizabeth Register, she was born 23 January 1856 in Onalaska, Polk Co Texas, and died 06 April 1896 in Eastland Co Texas.

The following children's dates comes from World Tree at Ancestry.com, and seem to be off from the 1900 census, making me think somehow the dates were transcribed wrong, either on the census or in compiling the record.  Can anyone confirm these dates?

UNIA HILTON, born 06 December 1885 in Livingston Co Texas, and died 08 October 1974 in Lamesa, Dawson Co Texas   (The 1900 census shows her birth as Jan 1890, her birth after Ether)  She married HOSEA ROBERT MAXWELL on 28 February 1904 in Eastland Co Texas.  He was born in 1884, and died in 1932

ETHER HILTON, born 05 January 1887 in Stephens Co Texas, and died 26 August 1976 in Rising Star, Eastland Co Texas.  She married GEORGE THOMAS ALFORD

BEULAH NANCY HILTON, born 02 January 1890 in Eastland Co Texas.
She married MALCOMBE M. SADLER.  According to the 1900 census, she was born June 1892, note that here is when the census or records become confused, as the next child, James is shown as having been born in June 1892. 

JAMES AUDREY HILTON, born 04 June 1892 in Eastland Co Texas, and died 13 November 1971 in Friona, Parmer Co Texas   (1900 census shows his birth as August 1893, which is shown in this report as the birthdate of his sister, Vesta, next) He married EVA ANDERSON on 11 November 1917 in Eastland Co Texas/  No children in the 1920 census, and could not locate them in a 1930 census.

VESTA HILTON, born 14 August 1893 in Eastland Co Texas.  (1900 census shows March 1897 which is after her mothers death, so impossible)
She married JOHN LOGAN COZART on 09 March 1940.  He was born 29 October 1896, and died 1974.

If anyone can explain the difference between the census and the genealogy dates, please let me know.

ALICE HILTON5, born 07 July 1885 in Polk Co Texas, and died 10 November 1958.
She married CHARLES E. FAIRCLOTH between 1903 and 1906.  The son of William Henry Faircloth and Mary S. McCrorey, he was born 09 February 1876, and died 21 March 1907 in Polk Co Texas.  He had previously been married to Roxie Ann Hooks who died in 1903.  Alice and Charles had one child, a son: JUNE EDGAR FAIRCLOTH, born 31 August 1906 and died 24 December 1960.

OTIS MILLARD HILTON, born 05 September 1892 in Polk Co Texas, and died 05 December 1956 in Houston, Harris Co Texas, burial in Woodlawn Garden of Memories, Houston, Harris Co Texas.
