SUSAN BARLOW, daughter of NARVEL R. BARLOW and ELIZABETH BYRD, was born August 07, 1854, and died February 07, 1889, when she was heating up wash water and her dress caught on fire; she died as a result of these burns, burial in Rocky Creek Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi, in an unmarked grave.
She married THOMAS JONES BRINSON December 24, 1873 in Simpson Co Mississippi. The son of Adam Jones Brinson and Elizabeth Thames, he was born April 23, 1851, and died May 31, 1890 of tuberculosis, burial in Rocky Creek Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi in an unmarked grave. Thomas' sister, Sarah Brinson and her husband, Samuel Dorsey Byrd (the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Byrd Barlow and Judge John Rumbly Enochs), raised the children. At a time there was 17 people living in the house, and many times Sam and some of the others would go without food because there simply wasn't enough. Note from Susan: This must have only gone on for a year or so, as by 1900, Sarah is deceased, and all of the children have left the Byrd home and are living in their own households in Rankin Co. Note from Susan: I have been told, though I have no way of tracing the genealogy up to today's generation, that these are the gr-?grandparents of LeAnne Rimes, country music star. If anyone knows this to be true or untrue, I would be interested in hearing from you. |
