MRS CHARITY BROWN This excellent lady died on the 26th day of February, 1911, at the home of her nephew, Dr. H. H. Barlow, in the Barlow neighborhood. She was the widow of the late Volney Brown, who died at Barlow about two years ago. She was in her 79th year. Mrs. Brown, whose maiden name was Charity Barlow, was born and raised in Copiah county, and lived in the county most of her life. Several years ago she moved to New Orleans, and spent several years in the city and on the Mississippi coast. About three years ago she returned to her native county, and has made her home with Dr. Barlow for the past three years. She was related to the Barlow, Millsaps and Mayes families. Mrs Charity Brown was an excellent, Christian woman. Possessed of considerable means, she was most generous in her church, and especially to the poor. Charity is perhaps the greatest of the Christian virtues, and Mrs. Brown's charity was all embracing. |
