7.  HENRIETTA 'ETTA' J. BARLOW5, daughter of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born May 29, 1876 and died March 15, 1967

She married 1) ENOCH ASBURY KELLY on December 16, 1897 in Simpson Co Mississippi.  The son of Richard Kelly and Harriett Jane Enochs, he was born November 1876, and died August 08, 1900, burial in Wesson Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.
She married 2)  WILLIAM A. HOGG, c1906.  The son of Hatton M. and Ellen Hogg, he was born November 11, 1872, and died in 1939.   William and Etta are buried in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.

FRANCIS MANNON HOGG, born April 13, 1911, and died November 16, 1912, burial in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi

8. LEMUEL OSCAR 'JOE' BARLOW, son of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born November 26, 1877, and died August 31, 1974

He married ELLEN THERESA KELLY on December 15, 1897 in Simpson Co Mississippi. The son of Richard Kelly and Harriett Jane Enochs, and sister to Enoch A. Kelly, she was born March 28, 1879, and died January 03, 1970.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.  Note that she and Lemuel married one day before Enoch and Henrietta married, however also note, that while L.O. and Ellen are shown married only 2 years, Enoch and Etta are shown as married 4 years in the 1900 census.

69 YEARS TOGETHER   Mr. and Mrs. L.O. 'Joe' Barlow of Harrisville, pictured above recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. The family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. L.O. (Joe) Barlow gathered recently to share with them the celebration of their 69th anniversary at their home at Harrisville.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Barlow and grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Mahaffey, all of Jackson; Mrs. Mary Neill and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Neill and children of Utica; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Robertson and son, Mr and Mrs. J.D. Bell and children, and Mr. Sammy Beaney, all of Pearl; Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. L.O. Barlow, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Mahaffey and children, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Bridges and son, Mrs. Wiley Ball and Mrs. Francis Grantham, all of Harrisville.
The honorees had a very enjoyable day with their children, grandchildren and friends. They are still living at the same place where they have lived for sixty-eight years.   (1966)

She married JAMES HUMPHRIES 'NICK' HARRISON. He was born December 09, 1892, and died June 21, 1978. Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.    They had no children

LEMUEL OSCAR BARLOW, JR., born October 17, 1912, and died May 28, 1988, burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi
He married 1) RENA BOYKIN.    He married 2.)  HAZEL BELL BROOME.  The daughter of Edward Roscoe Broome and Emma Bell Dickens, she was born November 28, 1917.  She married 2)  THOMAS HENDERSON.    No children born to L.O. Jr.

9.  WESLEY LEE BARLOW, son of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born January 21, 1880, and died January 18, 1958. 

He married 1)  HATTIE HARRIS.  The daughter of John G. and Margaret Harris, she was born June 1889, and died in 1940.
He married 2) his second cousin RHODA BARLOW, after 1930.  The daughter of Len M. Barlow and Mary Jane Nelson, she was born November 27, 1896, and died May 12, 1960.   (Her tombstone states she was born in 1888, an error)     All three are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.

I only have the census index of 1930 Simpson Co, and it appears Wesley is living with his children, no wife.  He and Hattie divorced sometime between 1925 and 1930, and he married his second cousin, Rhoda Barlow.

JOHN RICHARD 'JR' BARLOW, born October 03, 1909, and died January 17, 1991
He married WINNIE MOORE. The daughter of Dan and Becky Moore, she was born December 30, 1906, and died February 02, 1994. Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi. They had no children.

NORMA BARLOW, born August 10, 1912, and died January 04, 1998 in Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi, burial in Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi
She married HAROLD FERGUSON. The son of Luther J. Ferguson and Sadie Smith, he was born September 01, 1912, and died April 26, 1996, 83 yrs. old. Survivors included:  Wife, Norma Ferguson, son Harold L. Ferguson of Mobile, Daughter, Jean Dunn of St. Petersburg, Fla., brother William W. Ferguson of Silsbee, Texas, Sister Ruth Shurden of Mobile, 5 grandchildren and 3 gr-grandchildren.  A native of Brandon, Mississippi, burial in Lakewood Memorial Park, Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi, Sec. 8, lot 328

10.  IDA ANNIE BARLOW, daughter of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born December 30, 1882, and died September 22, 1983.

She married 1) ROBERT LUTHER PRINE c1902. The son of Robert Griffin Prine and Alice Orlean Haygood, he was born September 19, 1876, and died January 27, 1962. They divorced sometime before 1920, and she married 2) MORRIS HARDY PERRITT.    Morris and Ida are buried in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.   I don't  believe she and Morris had children, but he had children from a previous marriage.

Bonnie Bell, age 16, and Robert G., age 11, are living with their father in the home of their grandparents, Griff and Olean Prine.

11.  ROBERT LUTHER BARLOW, son of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born December 1887, and died 1937.

He married BEULAH MCCARDLE c1915    The daughter of Frank and Emma McCardle, she was born August 19, 1895, and died November 1978.  Both are buried in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.

12.  EVA 'EVIE' ESTELLE BARLOW, daughter of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born April 20, 1889 in Mississippi, and died August 1982 in Wills Point, VanZandt Co Texas

She married GEORGE B. BAILEY.  He was born in 1881 in Mississippi, and died in 1949 in VanZandt Co Texas.  Both are buried in New Hope Cemetery, VanZandt Co Texas.

13.  JOHN WILKIE BARLOW, son of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born June 09, 1896, and died November 26, 1982.

He married JENNIE V. HUTCHINS in October 1923, Copiah Co Mississippi.  The daughter of Rowan Hutchins and Elizabeth Evans, she was born September 26, 1903, and died August 26, 1990.  Both are buried in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi.

Children of John and Jennie are:

ROBERT GLENN BARLOW, SR. born May 05, 1927 in Copiah Co Mississippi, and died November 26, 2003 in Covington Co Mississippi.

He married NELL ELIZABETH MCGEE.  The daughter of Eddie Vanderbilt McGee and Bernita McGinnis, she was born February 17, 1931 in Copiah Co Missisisppi, and died February 03, 2006 in Warner-Robins, Georgia

Children: LINDA CAROL, ROBERT GLENN, JR., BARBARA GAYLE, and BRENDA KAYE

WARNER ROBINS – Nellie Barlow, 74, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, in a local nursing home. Visitation was held from 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with all other services being held in Beauregard, Miss.
Mrs. Barlow was born in Copiah County, Miss., to the late Eddie Vanderbilt McGee and Bernita McGinnis McGee. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Barlow Sr. Mrs. Barlow was a retired electronic assembly worker from Potter Company and a member of the Beauregard United Methodist Church in Beauregard, Miss.
Survivors include a son, Robert Glenn Barlow Jr. of Bonaire; daughters, Barbara Hood of Warner Robins, Brenda Smith of Wesson, Miss., Linda Valentine of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, Lellon West of Hazelhurst, Miss.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Heritage Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

14. ALBERT BRYAN BARLOW, son of George Robert Barlow and Frances A. Mullican, was born June 13, 1898, and died December 30, 1981.

He married VIRGIE A LUSK.  The daughter of Ben A. Lusk and Rose Leigh Kelly, she was born November 06, 1896, and died June 19, 1982.  Both are buried in Beauregard Cemetery, Copiah Co Mississippi

Dr. James Buren Barlow, 77, went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2004. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Methodist Church in Madison. Visitation hours will be from 1-3 p.m. at the church and a time of storytelling ( the Jim Barlow way) will be held after the service. The graveside service will be held at Midway Cemetery in Meadville at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Dr. Barlow was born in Wesson to Francis and Mary Barlow on March 19, 1927. The middle child of six, Jim helped with the family farm while attending a one room school. Instead of graduating from high school, he entered the Naval Air Corps and served until the end of WWII. With the GI bill, Jim attended college at Ole Miss and medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical School and Northwestern in Chicago. While serving as a family doctor in Meadville, he met and married Mary Ann Babington. In 1963, Jim and Mary Ann moved to Jackson where he practiced radiology and raised 4 children. After helping so many people and after experiencing the joy of 9 grandchildren, Dr. Barlow passed away after a long illness. He was the most unselfish and forgiving man his family and friends have ever known.
Dr. Barlow is survived by his wife; children, Jim Barlow Jr., M.D., Julie Barlow Reynolds, Jeff Barlow, Doug Barlow; his siblings, Montell Beasley, John Barlow, Mavis Fox, David Barlow; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Methodist Church or the American Lung Association.

He married MARY ANN BABINGTON, daughter of Herbert Robert Babington and Mattie Kate Cain.

16. DILLA ORCADY 'KATE' BARLOW5, daughter of Andrew Green Barlow and Eliza Mariah Burkett, was born March 31, 1880 in Mississippi, and died June 23, 1969 in VanZandt Co Texas, burial in New Hope Cemetery, VanZandt Co Texas.

She married ANDREW / ANDERSON ALONZO 'LONNIE' TUCKER on December 13, 1897.    He was born May 1873, they were divorced before 1920.   I believe he is a brother to George Tally Tucker who married Laura Barlow.
She married 2) FRANKLIN P. CANANT after 1925 when his previous wife, Essie died, in VanZandt Co Texas. He was born in 1883, and died in 1951, burial in New Hope Cemetery, VanZandt Co Texas.

NORA MAE TUCKER, born August 1897 in Mississippi, and died 1966, Texas.
She married CLYDE P. GANN  He was born 1904,. and died 1987.  Both are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, VanZandt Co Texas.

He married LAURA LUELLA MAE KELLEY REID on May 20, 1919 in VanZandt Co Texas.   She had been previously married to a Reed/Reid, and brought into their marriage:  Katie Mae, Herbert and Edna Reid.

18. INA BELL BARLOW, daughter of Andrew Green Barlow and Eliza Mariah Burkett, was born November 19, 1885 in Mississippi, and died September 06, 1961 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish Louisiana

20.  KILA ROBERT BARLOW, son of Andrew Green Barlow and Eliza Mariah Burkett, was born August 12, 1899 in Mississippi, and died February 28, 1964, in Sapulpa, Creek Co Oklahoma

He married VERBIE ALTHA PIPES on December 25, 1917 in Tyler, Smith Co Texas.  She was born September 03, 1900 in Canton, VanZandt Co Texas, and died March 13, 1920 in Tulsa, Tulsa Co Oklahoma.  Both are buried in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co Oklahoma

21.  J.D. BARLOW, son of Hezekiah Washington Barlow and Nannie McLeod, was born January 23, 1885, and died December 21, 1950.

He married VIOLA 'OLA' BRIDGES c1909.  The daughter of Robert Hamilton Bridges and Annie Beulah Burkett, she was born October 15, 1889, and died August 14, 1968.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.

BARLOW, RONNY TROY A senior piping designer, loving father and faithful friend, he passed away Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2000, at Brookwood Hospital, Birmingham, Ala. He was 59 and a native of Jackson, Miss. He served in the U.S. Navy. He began his engineering career in Birmingham and later transferred to Baton Rouge, where he has resided for 28 years. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 1 p.m. Thursday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. Thursday. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 22. NEWTON WESLEY BARLOW, son of John Wesley Barlow, Jr. and Martha Elizabeth Butler, was born December 25, 1884, Simpson Co, Mississippi and died June 04, 1967, Coushatta, Natchitoches Parish Louisiana, burial in Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery, Marthaville, Natchitoches Parish Louisiana.

He married 1) ELIZABETH MECCA WALKER c1906.  The daughter of James H. Walker, and wife, Lizzie C., she was born December 24, 1888 in Louisiana, and died February 07, 1919 from an infection, burial in Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery, Marthaville, Natchitoches Parish Louisiana

He married 2) GEORGIA BUSTIN c1925.  The daughter of John Bustin and Sarah Hardwick, she was born December 05, 1897 in Arkansas, and died July 03, 1937 in Natchitoches Parish Louisiana, while giving birth to an infant, who also died, both are buried in Beaulah Methodist Church Cemetery, Marthaville, Natchitoches Parish Louisiana.  Georgia had previously been married to Hardy Murphy, and had one child:  H.B. Murphy.

He married 3) CECILIA DESODIER on March 10, 1938 in Natchitoches Parish Louisiana.  The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Desodier, she was born October 05, 1914, and died March 21, 1968, burial in Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery, Natchitoches Parish Louisiana

Mecca was in the Schumpert Sanitarium, and she wrote the following letter to Mrs. Blankenship, Newt's mother, Lizzie, who evidently was caring for some of the children while Meca was in the hospital.

Dear Mrs. Blankenship,

Just a few lines to let you know how I am, & where I am, I came up here for an examtion (sic) & found things so bad for me - that I am going to Operation room in the morning (so pray for me) I have gall stones & enlarged gall-bladder, two lacerations, and diseased ovaries. All to be removed at once so, I don't know whether I'll pull through or not hope and pray I will. Kiss my poor little babys for me & tell them to think of Mama. I don't know whether I'll ever see them any more or not but if I don't, why, be good to them for me. I would give every thing to see them tonite & kiss their curly heads once more. Will write more later on. I am up here all alone - the Baby and Clytie are at Mrs. Manning's, I'll send for Baby when everything is over with if I live through the Operation.

I certainly appreciate your kindness in caring for the Babys for me.

Write me every day for I get awful blue.

Newton Barlow Succumbs at 83

Newton Wesley Barlow 83, of Coushatta died at 6:35 p.m. yesterday in a local clinic following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Rocket Nettles Funeral Home here with Reverend S.B. Combs officiating, assisted by the Reverend Alvin Hall.
Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery near Ajax with Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Barlow was a native of Mississippi but had lived most of his life in Red River Parish. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Harmon Baptist Church. He also belonged to Ajax Masonic Lodge.

He leaves his wife; one son, Harold Wesley Barlow of Coushatta; seven daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Dans of Jonesboro, Mrs. Willie V. Murray of Srayton Plains Michigan, Mrs. Mae Elizabeth Devillier of New Orleans, and Sarah Longa, Mrs. Virgil Hendrix, Mrs. Sattie Bonnette, of New Orleans, and Mrs. Sue Brown of Bossier City; four brothers, John Barlow of Evelyn, Louisiana, Clifton Blankenship of Minden, Otis Blankenship and Wise Blankenship of Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Ola Blankenship, Mrs. Ozella Miller and Mrs. Ottis Russell, all of Natchitoches and Mrs. Pearl Blankenship; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She married WALTER DANS c1937.  He died May 30, 2005, burial in Beulah Cemetery, Marthaville, Natchitotches Parish Louisiana.

Mrs. Walter (Jimmie Clarice Barlow) Dans

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Jimmie Clarice Barlow Dans, 91, will be held at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home, Sunday, June 19, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Rick Edmonds, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, where Mrs. Dans was a faithful member. Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery, Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, June 18, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Dans was born May 12, 1914 in Natchitoches, LA to Newton Wesley and Mecca Elizabeth Walker Barlow. She entered into rest Thursday, June 16, 2005 at her home in Shreveport, LA.

Mrs. Dans was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Walter Dans on May 30, 2005; her parents; one brother and five sisters. She is survived by her son, Wesley Allen Dans and daughter-in-law, Frances Ann Dans of Shreveport, LA; her daughter, Dr. J. Clarice Dans of Ruston, LA: granddaughter, Leigh Ann Dans of Hermitage, TN; great-granddaughter, Christina Diane Thomas of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Harold Wesley Barlow of Coushatta, LA; two sisters, Sue Barlow Nolen of Bossier City, LA and Virgil "Doc" Hendrix of Natalbany, LA; a special niece and nephew, Mecca Elizabeth Gallien Lofton of San Antonio, TX and Jimmie Wayne Gallien of Waco, TX; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

The family expresses deep appreciation to Willis Knighton Hospice and to Mrs. Dans' dedicated and loving friend Ms. Diana Martin and to her kind and compassionate caregivers, Mr. Roy Thompson, Ms. Loretta Nelson, and Ms. Dominique King.

The following letter written to Paul by Aunt Jimmie, mentions that L.O. Barlow Jr. died about 2 years before it was written ... he died in 1988 ... so my guess is the letter is written in after 1990 ... however, she gives Annie's address, and Annie died in 1995, so it may have been more recent.  Newt died in 1967, so the trip she is talking about would be prior to that time.

L.O. Barlow, was the son of L.O. Barlow, Sr. who in turn was the son of George Robert Barlow. George Robert was the brother of John Wesley Barlow, Jr. who was in turn the father of Newt.

When Mae and I took Papa (Newt) there (Simpson Co Mississippi) for a visit, it was over the weekend- so we went to church with the family. During announcements, the pastor asked for all by the name "Barlow" to stand; about two thirds of the membership (or attending) stood. WASN'T THAT SOMETHING!!! In going through all you have sent, I can say the Barlows are a very prolific clan!

Annie and L.O. are brother and sister. They have a brother in Jackson who is a lawyer- don't know his name.

Annie's husband passed away several years back. They had no children. After his death, she bought a trailer and moved it next door to L.O. They were very close. She owned her home across the road from their parents (Joe Barlow). Guess she was afraid?

By the way, Annie is a very well-to-do lady (oil wells) L.O. passed away about 2 yrs. ago - sudden heart attack. In his own right, L.O. was well fixed, too. But, his first wife took care of a great portion of their property.

The best I can figure, cousin Joe (L.O.'s dad) was my first cousin. When he died, he and his wife had been married 72 yrs. They were such sweet old people. Mae and I carried papa to see them. They had not seen each other since they were boys (12 yrs. old at the time) They knew each other IMMEDIATELY! It was a very touching re-union.

We enjoyed the visit so much, heard so many interesting things and told about. A VERY GRACIOUS COUPLE. Carried us to the graveyard (be sure you go there) also to the house papa and family were living in at that time (took a picture)

SATTIE BARLOW married DAVID BONNETTE    Child:  DEBRA

Aunt Sattie died on Jan. 4, 2005, 74 years old, native of Natchitoches, La., daughter of Newton Wesley Barlow and Georgia Bustin. Wife of late David J. Bonnette. Sister of Jimmie Barlow Dans,  late Mae Barlow,  late Willis Vincent Barlow (Aunt Willie-V.), late Sarah Barlow Longa, Virgil Barlow Hendrix (Aunt Doc), Sue Barlow Nolan, and Harold Wesley Barlow. She had one daughter, Debbie Bonnette, and a grandson, Jean Charles Bonnette.  Resident of Metairie,  La.

23. VIRGIE C. NEELY, daughter of Wilkie N. Neely and Laura Barlow, was born May 30, 1895, and died May 15, 1982, burial in New Zion Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

Sbe married JOHNSON LEE 'JOHN' SHORTER.   The son of Andrew Shorter and his wife, Beulah, he was born October 1895 in Simpson Co Mississippi

LAURA LOYCE SHORTER, born March 18, 1918, and died April 12, 1918, burial in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

24. GEORGE DEWEY NEELY, born March 01, 1898, and died December 15, 1976

He married DOLLIE SPELL c1918.  The daughter of George W. Spell and LuElla Shorter, she was born February 14, 1900, and died October 23, 1972.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi

25. ARRIS S. 'HEED' NEELY, born January 09, 1900, and died September 09, 1990

He married FLORA ANN BERRY. The daughter of James Franklin Berry and Alice Bateman, she was born January 12, 1908, and died June 13, 2003.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.   

26. WINNIE D. BARLOW, daughter of Lemuel Oscar Barlow and Ellen Theresa Kelly, was born November 04, 1898, and died October 18, 1962 in Jackson, Hinds Co Mississippi

She married WILEY S. BRIDGES.  The son of Byrd R. Bridges and Martha Crane, he was born December 29, 1891, and died September 24, 1976.  Both are buried in Harrisville Cemetery, Simpson Co Mississippi.     Wiley is also a brother to
