Richard A. Gibson of Sanger, Texas, formerly of Bay City, died in Denton Community Hospital Dec. 4, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Sanger at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21. The Reverend Larry Kruger, pastor, will officiate. A second memorial service will be held at Oak Tree Assisted Living Facility in New Braunfels, Texas at 7 p.m. Dec. 26, with the Reverend William Ervin, Pastor of Believers Baptist Church of New Braunfels, officiating.
Mr. Gibson was born Oct. 1, 1943 in Denton to Burtle Harville & Wylene Gibson.
He attended Texas schools in Ozona, Athens, Corpus Christi, Harlingen and Denton. He was a 1962 graduate of Denton High School and received his bachelor of arts degree in education in 1965, a master's of education and supervision degree in 1972 and an administrative certification in 1979, all from North Texas State University in Denton. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity at NTSU.
He married the former Janice Carolyn Barlow of Denton on Nov. 22, 196 (66?), in Cole Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Denton.
Mr. Gibson was San Benito Chamber of commerce Manager from 1968-69. He taught speech in Texas High Schools in San Benito, Columbus and Bay City and was principal at Industrial Junior High in Lolita, Texas; Henrietta High School in Henrietta, Texas; Windthorst Junior and Senior High in Windthorst, Texas; and Saint Jo Junior and Senior High in Saint Jo, Texas. He was named principal of the year for Region IX in 1995. He retired from education in May 1995.
Mr. Gibson was a licensed Methodist pastor and certified Methodist Lay Leader. He had been pastor of Montague United Methodist Church in Montague, Texas, and Slidell United Methodist Church in Slidell following his retirement. He served the Wichita Fall Methodist District as District Lay Leader and trained lay speakers for the Methodist Conference.
He taught Sunday school at Henrietta, Saint Jo and Sanger Methodist Churches, directed the After School Kids Program in Saint Jo, and served on the Volunteers in Missions program.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons and their wives, Scott and Jodie Gibson of Krum, Texas, and Lance and Sherry Gibson of Lexington, Texas; his mother, Mary Wylene Gibson of New Braunfels, Texas; a sister, Carolyn Gibson Sparks of Canyon Lake, Texas; mother-in-law Sylvia Barlow Greenwood of Denton, Texas; grandson, Blake Richard Gibson of Lexington; a grandson-t0-be, William Richard Gibson of Krum, Texas; several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
Mr. Gibson's body was donated to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas for research at his request.

Mollie 'Lela' Barlow Warner, 75, died December 3, 2006, at her residence in Richland. Visitation is Tuesday, December 5, 2006, from 5-8 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, at the funeral home with burial in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery near Hazlehurst at 12 noon.
Mrs. Warner was a homemaker. She was a member of Creston Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include: daughters, Shirley Beers and husband, Don of Florence and Brinda Stocker and husband, Mike of Florence; stepson, Bill Warner and wife, Karen of Brandon; brothers, Edward Glenn of Stanford, KY and Bruce Glenn of Nerbena, AL; sister, Hazel Boswell of Verbena, AL; grandchildren, Shannon Cleveland, Jennifer Muse, Brad Warner, Candice Stocker and Stacy Stocker;great-grandchildren, Braydon, Brantley and Brelyn Muse.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Barlow and Richard Warner and daughter, Linda Albright.

Billy Gene James, 70, died Saturday, January 22, 2005, at his home. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Tuesday at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. James was born April 3, 1934, and was a native of Carrollton. He was a resident of Brandon for the past nine years. He served seven years with the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. James was employed by United Press International and the Bureau of Land Management. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. James was a member of Pinelake Baptist Church.
Mr. James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mildred B. James of Brandon; daughter, Denise Tallant of Brandon; son, Mike James of Brandon; brother, Bruce James of Carthage; and three granddaughters, Ashley Shelby, Bailey James, and Jill James.
