Department of War - Adjutant General's Office Record and Pension Office

Records found in the NARA database led to the discovery of John Wesley Barlow, Jr. who had mysteriously disappeared from his home in Mississippi around the time of the war. Rumors had surfaced that John had gone to Oklahoma and married to an Indian woman, though he had left behind a wife and children in Mississippi.

These records prove that John did indeed locate in Oklahoma, and that he was discharged from service in New York. It is not known whether John returned to Oklahoma or if he located in the NY area.   The wife has not been proven either.

If any of you should find a John W. Barlow during your research that you cannot find a family for ......... I would certainly love to hear about him.

Thanks ....... Paul Longa and Susan BARLOW Holmes
