Barlow of Oregon

        Ellen Ague     March  2000
I am attempting to find the living family of George Washington Barlow born April 27, 1869 and died June 13, 1956.  He was married to Lettie Belle Fisher, daughter of  William Henry Fisher  & Anna Elizabeth Wookey.  She was born November 19, 1888 and died May 11, 1989.  Both George and Lettie are buried at Damascus, Clackamas Co Oregon.

George' parents were George Hughes Barlow and his mother Susan Ann Simpson.
        They had 7 children:
        Ruby Grace Barlow
        Ruth Anna Barlow
        William George Barlow
        Leon Francis Barlow
        Lila Rose Barlow
        Jean Marie Barlow
        Melvin Hugh Barlow
My records show the last 3 still living and the rest deceased.
I am a relative of Lettie Belle Fisher and most of my past relatives are deceased and we are attempting to locate some person who could give us more information.

Note from Susan:  I don't know if there is any kind of relationship, but  Lori Dameff  shows:
George H. Barlow married to Susie Simpson in Wisconsin,  with a daughter, Laura E. Barlow.

My gr-grandfather, Daniel Barlow, was the son of Alfred Barlow and Martha Gilbert.  He is listed in the 1880 census of Lincoln Co Arkansas, at age 19, living with his parents.  It shows him to be born in Tennessee, and Alfred, born in North Carolina  is of the Wilkes Co bunch.
Other children of Alfred and Martha are John and Martha, both born in Arkansas.

Daniel married Rosanna Carnley/Conley in Lincoln Co Arkansas on September 21, 1884 or 1885. Their children include:  John, Selma, Georgia Ann, Austin, and Samuel Emmett...aka Emmett.

John is my grandfather, he was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in the 1890's.

        Death certificate of John Barlow

Rosanna is said to be born in Lincoln Co Arkansas, but I am told court records as well as the federal census for 1900 were burned.

Rosanna wound up in Washington, and then Oregon, and is shown to be married to a Thompson.  What happened to Daniel is not known.  Did they divorce, did Daniel die?  I have put out several queries, but Daniel seems to be a lost sheep...

William Henry Harris "Harrison" Barlow -my ggggrandfather- was born in 1766 in Lynchburg, Virginia..   He married Sarah "Elizabeth" Kimbrough 15 April 1788 in Bourbon County Kentucky.
.I know of two sons born in Nicholas County Kentucky. -- Thomas, born  5 August  1789 and my gggrandfather Samuel Kimbrough - born  27 January 1792.

Thomas BARLOW* & Lucy BARLOW   Virginia and Kentucky
Thomas is the grandfather of Samuel Kimbrough Barlow
I have just discovered my ggg-grandparents - John SADLER and Lucy BARLOW married Bourbon County, Kentucky 1798. I understand Lucy's father is Thomas BARLOW they were in Cambell County, Virginia first and other Virginia  counties before moving to Kentucky in the 1790's.
Can anyone point me to more information about this BARLOW line?
And anything about John SADLER would be helpful too.

        "THE OREGON TRAIL"
The Oregon Trail extended from the Missouri River to the Willamette River. It was used by nearly 400,000 people. The trail's starting points were Independence, Westport, St. Joseph, and Ft. Leavenworth. Alternate routes included Sublette's Cutoff and the Lander Cutoff. After 1846, there was also a choice at The Dalles between rafting down the Columbia River or taking the new BARLOW Road across the Cascades. Each part of the journey had its set of unique difficulties. During the first third of the journey, emigrants got used to the routine and work of travel. Approaching the steep ascent to the Continental Divide, water, fuel, grass for the livestock, fresh meat, and food staples became scarce. The final third was the most difficult part of the trail. The major fears of the pioneers following the trail were Indians,  "American Trails and Roads Reference Cards, Kansas City, Missouri: Genealogy Tutor, Beverly Whitaker, 1995."
