The eldest daughter of Lucius and Miriam, Harriet has married before the 1850 census and thus, is not listed; she is shown to have died September 23, 1880.

ELI JOHNSON - Delmare was Mr. Johnson's birthplace, and the year 1818. His father, Luther Johnson, settled in Tioga county in 1806, and married Zilphia Shumway. They had nine children. Luther Johnson died in 1856. Eli Johnson married Miss Harriet Barlow in 1842. He has always been a farmer.

Died at her residence in Charleston September 23rd 1880, Harriet, wife of Eli Johnson, aged 58 yrs and 5 mos. She was the eldest daughter of Lucius Barlow. She was born April 23rd 1822 and married to  Eli Johnson February 24th 1842. She united with the M.E. Church in 1859.

It would appear that Lucius son Clark, with wife Mary and son Joseph have moved into the home with Lucius.

Marriage announcement 16 September 1853

In Middlebury on the 1st inst, Mr. Clark Barlow, of Charleston and Miss Mary Gee daughter of Joseph Gee of Middlebury.

From cemetery records and obituaries, we see that Lucius wife, Miriam, and children, Sarah, Henry and Charles have died prior to the census of 1860.

Also from obituaries and cemetery records, we see that Clark and Mary have lost a daughter during 1859.

Died 14th inst., at the house of Lucius Barlow, in Charleston, Kate M., only daughter of Clark W. & Mary G. Barlow, aged 2 years and 5 months.

If this transcription is correct, it would appear that Mary Gee is quite a bit older than Clark. Other questions to ponder is that the military record of Clark shows that his wife filed a pension application on April 05, 1894 while a resident of Wisconsin. One of these records has to be in error. I tend to believe the dates on the cemetery records have been mis-transcribed.

Pension application no. 317893 filed October 25, 1879, certificate no. 256247.

Widow Mary G. Barlow's pension application no.593192 filed April 05, 1894, certificate no. 400928, resident Wisconsin.

Daughters of Lucius:  Louisa, Julia, and Mary A. /Miriam have married before the 1860 census:

Married in Charleston on Monday, the 6th of December by the Rev. A.A. Marple, Mr. Rosel Gile to Miss Juliette Barlow, daughter of Lucius Barlow, Esq., all of Charleston.

Married 17th February, at the house of the brides father, by Rev. J. Joralemon, Robert Tipple of Charleston and Miss Louisa Barlow of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

LEONARD J. PREBLE is from Lincoln county, Me., where he was born in 1826. He removed in 1849 to Jersey Shore, Lycoming county, and there married Miss Marion
Barlow. In 1860 he located in Tioga county, on a part of the original farm taken up by his wife's father, Lucius Barlow, who in 1821 had settled on a farm in Charleston, where he died in 1875, at the age of 85, having been a magistrate 25 years, and a soldier in the war of 1812.

I do not have a transcription of the 1870 census, nor an index...but for 1880, I find:
