The furthest I've been able to get is my great grandparents,
John Madison & Mattie Barlow. I don't know Mattie's middle
or maiden name. Their children were Glenn Stanley, Oscar, and
Carrie. The only other info I have is on Glenn Stanley (5/3/13-3/?/66).
He was my grandfatherfrom Johnson City, Tennessee. His children
were James Stanley, Barbara Ann, Glenda Sue, Sandra Letitia,
and Frieda Elaine. Any help or info would be appreciated.

buried at Preston Heights Cemetery, Quebeck, White Co Tennessee.
Would like to hear from others researching this line. Thanks.

I think my grandfather was originally from North
Carolina. I know when he was a child he lived in Van Buren Co
Tennessee. When a child he moved to Arkansas we know he lived
in Bald Knob, Franklin Co Arkansas. When he was about 16 he moved
back to Van Buren Co Tennessee in a covered wagon then to White
Co Tennessee where he died in March of 1968.

Dewitt Clinton Barlow was the son of John Barlow and Cynthia
Ann Hill of Van Buren Co Tennessee. John Barlow was the son of
David and Angeline M. 'Matilda' Barlow of North Carolina. They
are found in the 1840 census, Lumpkin Co Georgia; 1850 census,
Anderson Co Tennessee; 1860 census, Cherokee Co Alabama, as well
as Van Buren Co Tennessee census from 1880-1920. Your Dewitt
Clinton Barlow is not to be confused with the Dewitt Clinton
Barlow of Newton Co Arkansas who was the son of Dr. John Barlow.
They may or may not have been cousins, etc. They were near the
same age.

Our line went with the spelling of BIRLEW. Jane
(?) Balew was in the 1830 Knox Co Tennessee census. She was my
gr3 grandmother. Mr. Balew was deceased at the time of this census.
Jane married a 2nd time, 1831, in Knox Co Tennessee to William
Everett. After Jane and William Everett married, they moved to
Marion Co Tennessee.
The first child I know of for Jane and Mr.
Balew as my gr2grandfather, John Balew/Birlew born about 1810
in North Carolina. In 1838 he married Milbrey Robinson in Smith
Co Tennessee. They moved to Christian Co Kentucky about 1848
where they are found in the 1850 census, and the mother, Jane
(?) Balew-Everett is living with them. She was born 1790 in
Kentucky. In 1853 they moved to Missouri, and Jane Balew-Everett
went with them.
Can anyone identify with this Barlow-Birlew family?

I am trying to find information on my great-grandmother
and my grandmother. My great grandmother is Mary J. Shaver.
She married Chafin Barlow. I don't know how many children they
had except my grandmother Clara Florence Barlow. She
was born in Bristol, Sullivan Co Tennessee December 25, 1890.
I don't know if Chafin was my great grandfathers
first or middle name. And I don't know where either was born.
My grandmother married Robert Lee Smithers/Smothers from Grant
Virginia. They had eight children. Two died young about
1919. I'm not sure about the time. That was in North Carolina.
If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.

I have been searching this Barlow line for several
years. I have learned that my great-grandfather's name is John
Barlow from Tennessee ... I have been told that his wife, name
unknown, died while giving birth. He left my grandfather with
people named Duggins or Duggans and moved on to Texas where he
remarried. They had another son named Stanhope Barlow.
I hope someone can help me with this ... don't have a clue as
to what town he moved to. ..thanks...

My gr-grandfather, Daniel Barlow, was the
son of Alfred Barlow and Martha Gilbert. He is listed
in the 1880 census of Lincoln Co Arkansas, at age 19, living
with his parents. It shows him to be born in Tennessee,
and Alfred, born in North Carolina is of the Wilkes Co bunch.
Other children of Alfred and Martha are John and Martha, both
born in Arkansas.
Daniel married Rosanna Carnley/Conley in Lincoln
Co Arkansas on September 21, 1884 or 1885. Their children include:
John, Selma, Georgia Ann, Austin, and Samuel Emmett...aka Emmett.
John is my grandfather, he was born in Little Rock, Arkansas
in the 1890's.
Rosanna is said to be born in Lincoln Co Arkansas,
but I am told court records as well as the federal census for
1900 were burned.
Rosanna wound up in Washington, and then Oregon,
and is shown to be married to a Thompson. What happened to
Daniel is not known. Did they divorce, did Daniel die? I have
put out several queries, but Daniel seems to be a lost sheep...

I'm researching the CUMMINGS/CUMMINS family from central
Tennessee and Virginia. At present I have the line traced back
to Malachi, born about 1744 in Fauquier Co Virginia and died in White
Co Tennessee. The line may go back to William Cummyne, about 1583, but
I have no positive documentation yet.
Other names I'm researching include MCCORMACK/MCCORMICK,
GUY, BARLOW, DODSON, GRISSOM, DENTON, HODGES, HORTON, SHOCKLEY, BAKER,
MEDLEY and SPARKMAN. All from Central Tennessee- White, Warren,
Van Buren Counties- I have about six thousand names in my files and am
happy to trade information.

Richard Barlow born, probably in Tennessee in 1855 and
died in Cleburne Co Arkansas in 1914. Land
records from Cleburne Co Arkansas in 1901, shows a Richard Barlow

He may have been married 2 or 3 times. One wife, Alice
Grissom/Grisham had previously been married to John Grissom.
Anyone having more information on the family of Richard,

I’m looking for information on Ruth Pace, John
Joseph Pace Barlow - Whitecloud, (we think he was born before Ruth
married Billy Whitecloud), and Billie Ruth Barlow-Whitecloud. Billie
Ruth lived at the Ashley Hotel, in Manhattan - NY City, married to
William Moncrief in the 1950’s. The family lost track of her
there. Rumor has it, she was gunned down in a gang battle between 1958-1965.
I have no proof of this today. Her maiden name is BARLOW-WHITE CLOUD.
She married Horace BLACKSTOCK of Mobile, Alabama in 1942, living in
the Dr. Parish Bed and Meal House in Midland, Alabama, then left
him in 1944 to go to New York.
She married William MONCRIEF, who was older then her. She changed
her name to "GAIL" Blackstock or Moncrief. She was an entertainer, singing in Nightclub’s
in New York during this time. She is originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi,
where she was born on February 23, 1925. Her mother was Ruth Pace married to
Dr. Billy B. Barlow-White Cloud, an Indian Medicine Man. Ruth Pace Barlow died
in 1932 in Philadelphia, Mississippi on the Choctaw Reservation. Billie Ruth
and her 1/2 brother, John Joseph "Jack" Barlow were placed in the St. Mary
Orphanage in Nashville Tennessee from 1936-1941. I have been unable to trace
her whereabouts. They had a cousin by the name of Mary Verlee Dunn, who lived
across the street from them in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as children, but I
can’t find anything on her either.
If anyone out there knows how I can do this, or knows anything about
this, please e-mail me or call (717) 843-3081. Your help is greatly
appreciated.

William Finley Cowden and Lydia Margaret Dellaplane,
parents of Sophronia Angeline 'Cowden' Nicholson. William was born
about 1838, possibly in Tennessee, died at Pottawatomie Co Oklahoma.
William had several brothers who also settled in Pottawatomie Co Oklahoma.
Their mother's name was BARLOW.
Lydia Margaret died when Saphronia was 3 years old. William married a Widow

Looking for information about the family of W.D. BARLOW, b. May 1864
in Texas. I found him on the 1900 Carroll Co Tennessee census index,
which lists his wife as Martha, b. Sep 1857 in Tennessee. Their
children are: Clyde (my great-grandfather, I think) b. 1888 in Tennessee,
a daughter (whose name I can't quite read, but might start with an"L")
b. 1890 in Tennessee, George b. 1893 in Tennessee, and Ruby b. 1897
in Tennessee. There are also 2 stepsons listed: B.W. Houston, b.1877
in Tennessee, and R.E. Houston, b. 1881 in Tennessee.
Any little bit of info would be appreciated! I'd like to find out
his wife's maiden name, which could possibly be Travis, and what his
initials stand for. According to my grandmother, he went by the name "Babe." I
did find a Babe Barlow on a 1891 Voters List for Carroll Co Tennessee,
