BROOKFIELD
Raymond F. Cooney, 84, of 31 Kimball St., formerly of North Grafton, died Friday night at home after an illness.
His wife, Doris A. "Hutchins" Cooney, died in 1994. He leaves three daughters, Joyce C. Flint of Brookfield, Betsy A. Dempsey of Leicester and Shelby J. Perry of Wales; a brother, Charles F. Cooney Jr. of Winooski, Vt.; five sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Burlington, Vt., Helen Carlyle, Doris Fernandez and Bernice Cooney, all of Montpelier, Vt., and Janice Dunster of Waterbury Center, Vt.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Judith A. Soper of Spencer, died in 1988.
He was born in Middlesex, Vermont, son of CHARLES F. and DORA M. BARLOW COONEY, and lived 27 years in North Grafton and 10 years in Brookfield.
He was a truck driver for Branch Motor Express Co. in Shrewsbury for 20 years, retiring in 1972.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, Grafton.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Field Fund, care of the Brookfield Recreation Committee, PO Box 397, Brookfield 01506. Pillsbury Funeral Home Old West Brookfield Road, is directing arrangements.
