    James L. Barlow

 Need help in locating family members. The following is as far back as I can
 go;

 James Barlow was married to Martha Defrece (not sure on her last name
 spelling)  They were both buried in the James Cemetery in Washington
County VA.

 Together they had seven children;

 John Barlow Born March 13, 1874

 Molly Barlow Born December 13, 1877

 James Harvey Barlow born May 16, 1880

 David Franklin Barlow born August 12,1882 (this was my father)he married
Sarah Jane Blackburn in VA. She was the daughter of Wiley Blackburn and
Emmer Walton. His first wife was named Lula L. McCloud who passed away.

 Pileg Cole Barlow born September 6, 1885

 Charles Newton Barlow born October 3, 1887 he married a lady by the name of
 Mamie Beck. Her last known address was in Lorain, Ohio. She was 91 years of
 age in 1988

 Levi Barlow born May 14, 1890

 James Barlow (aka "Big Jim") was my grandfather and he is as far back as I
 can go. Any help from anyone would sure be appreciated.

            He was born in 1820 in Virginia

I'm just starting to research the Barlow part of  my family.    I have information from my grandmother that Henry W.  was born in Virginia and that his people were from Devonshire,  England.   Since her grandfather Robert -Henry's son-  lived with her all his life I believe this to be accurate.   The records I looked up at the local Family History Center say he was born in Bourbon Kentucky 1801 which would  tend to hook him up with the "Parlur" Barlows.  Does  anyone recognize him from this scanty description?   He married Ann Watt in northern Alabama in 1834.

My ggg-grandparents - John SADLER and Lucy BARLOW married Bourbon Co Kentucky 1798. I understand Lucy's father is Thomas BARLOW.  They were in Cambell County, Virginia  first and other Virginia counties before moving  to Kentucky in the 1790's.
Can anyone point me to more information about this BARLOW line?  And anything about John SADLER would be helpful too.

According to material from Reba Mathis, the Barlow family can be traced back to Thomas
Barlow.  Thomas  Barlow  was born about 1760, probably in Scotland.   He came to America before the Revolutionary War.   He  married  Elizabeth  Nicholas  who was born in 1787.   A
son of  Thomas and Elizabeth,   John  Nicholas  Barlow, born 1797 in North Carolina or in 1797-1798 in Virginia.    He  was listed in the 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860 census in Illinois.   He  was living  in Bond County during  the 1850's  and 1860's.   He  died February 08, 1870 in Montgomery County,  Illinois.   He married Anna Burk on April 13, 1828. Another child, Catherine Barlow was born between 1780 and 1790 in Virginia and died in 1836 in Montgomery County, Illinois.   She married John Burke in Virginia.
