The State  of  Washington instituted  statewide vital statistics recordkeeping in mid-1907.    During the previous 16 years since   1891 the counties had been required to keep records of births and deaths, although some counties did much better than others.

I have transcribed this as best I can, the copy is from microfilm and not legible in several places. This will serve more as a guide to the date and place of death rather than for ordering death certificates.  Before spending money on certificates, please check other sources to be sure the certificate # is correct.  Some include codes for the place of death, and I do not have a complete copy of the key, so I have just put in that number. Several of these items are the same as those listed above.
