The Death Of William Barlow
On saturday, coroner Grant McKay accompanied by Dr. George and two mounted police drove out to Wayoh Lake, between Fish Creek and Sheep Creek to hold an inquest on the deceased, William Barlow, who was found dead at his house. After hearing evidence as to the finding of the body and the medical report through their foreman, Mr. A.O. Newton brought in the following open verdict, "we find that the deceased William Barlow died from the effects of a gun shot wound in the head, but there is no evidence to show whether the wound was inflicted accidently or intentionally." The deceased belonged to Lancashire England and had just built a new house on his place, and had gone to live there only a short time ago . The house was well supplied with everything and it is reported that Mr. Barlow had a considerable sum to his credit in the bank. The body was taken to the police barracks and was buried this afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Cooper officiating. The funeral was under the direction of J. Stuart and Co, Undertakers.
