A letter from Lilian
Andrew explains how the cotton mills were still going when she was young
and she remembers people wearing clogs. These were similar to Dutch
ones but made of leather and had wooden or even iron soles.
They were definitely meant to last and made a particular sound on the cobbled
streets.
