Ulster Society
The Society is a major publisher of books and booklets on a wide variety of Ulster-related themes, ranging from serious military and political biography to folk music and fiction. New Ulster is the journal of the Ulster Society and is published three times a year. In addition, the Society also publishes an attractive and educational calendar each year. The Ulster Society produces touring historical and cultural exhibitions which have proved to be very popular with schools and with the public at large. Topics covered have ranged from a study of American presidents of Ulster descent to a survey of how Ulster celebrated the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Each year the Society organises a programme of lectures, seminars, historical tours and popular events for its members, drawing on the services of eminent local historians, etc.

Empress of Ireland
BLACK FRIDAY...MAY 29, 1914...01:20
AMONG THE PASSENGERS: "ALFRED ERNEST BARLOW"
RMS Empress of Ireland drops off her pilot and sails into disaster. Less than an hour later this proud ocean liner collides in fog with the Norwegian collier Storstad. The Empress sinks in fourteen minutes in the St. Lawrence River, taking 1,012 passengers and crew with her in the worst maritime disaster in Canadian history. This is a very interesting site with many many stories, histories, and much more.
