THE ART OF LEON BARLOW...........
I was born in Manchester,
England and grew up on my parents' farm near Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
As a teenager, I developed a great interest and love for the natural world,
which I expressed by painting. I went on to acquire an education in science,
which eventually led me to the Harrow Research Centre where I was employed
as an entomologist for 16 years.
I left this position to
pursue painting full-time.
I am basically self-taught
and enjoy painting florals, wildlife, and especially the wilderness of
northern Ontario. My paintings frequently portray scenes which appear
much as they might have millenia ago, completely devoid of the presence
of man. Much of northern Canada still appears like this. I invite you to
