Jabez Barlow was born on November 26, 1785, according to his gravestone and in Nova Scotia, Canada, according to the information that he gave to the census-takers in 1850, 1855 and 1860. He apparently come to Stamford, Delaware County, New York, around 1805 because he was recorded there in the 1810 through 1860 censuses. He was a farmer and he owned his farm. He died on April 12, 1865, at Stamford at the age of 79 years 4 months 17 days and was buried in the Town Brook Cemetery, an old cemetery near Town Brook Road and Narrow Notch Road in Stamford.

Jabez Barlow's will was dated November 21, 1864, and was proved on January 04, 1866, in Delaware County. He named his wife Polly, his sons Roswell Barlow, Harry Barlow and John G. Barlow, and his daughters Henrietta Reid, wife of Lewis Reid, and Jane Butler.

Jabez Barlow married Mary (Polly) Edmonds around 1805 probably at Stamford, New York.
She was born in 1787, 1788 or 1790 in New York according to the information given in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses. She died on October 04, 1880, at Stamford and it is believed that she was buried beside her husband.

Their children, all probably born at Stamford, were:

i.	Edmund Barlow was born in 1807. He died at age 18 on September 05, 1825, at Stamford and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.
2 ii.	Roswell Barlow was born in 1809.
iii.	Ward Barlow was born in 1810. He died at age 16 on December 13, 1826, at Stamford and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.
iv.	Mary Barlow was born in 1815. She died at age 26 on March 21, 1841, at Stamford and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.
3 v.	Henry Barlow was born on March 16, 1816 [GR]
vi.	Henrietta Barlow was born in 1820. She married Lewis S. Reid (or Reed) on January 16, 1843, at Stamford [Delaware Gazette February 08, 1843]. She died on February 18, 1879, at age 59 at Stamford and was buried there in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
vii.	Jane Barlow was born in 1821. She married John Butler of Tioga County, New York, on January 16, 1843, at Stamford [Delaware Gazette February 08, 1843]. She died in 1867.
4 viii.	John Griffin Barlow was born in 1827.

Second Generation

Roswell Barlow was born in 1809 in New York [C1850-60], probably at Stamford, and was a son of 1. Jabez Barlow and Mary (Polly) Edmonds. He was a farmer at Stamford where he owned 18 acres according to the 1855 census. He was recorded at Stamford in the 1840 through 1860 censuses.
Roswell Barlow married Loranda ----. She was born in 1810 in New York [C1855-60].

Their children, all probably born at Stamford, were:

i.
Edmund W. Barlow was born in 1835 [C1855-60]. He was recorded with his parents in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses.

ii.
Bruce Barlow was born on January 30, 1837. He died on August 27, 1838, at age 1 year 6 months 27 days at Stamford and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.

iii.
Mary H. Barlow was born in 1838 [C1855] or 1939 [C1860]. She was recorded with her parents in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses.

iv.
Helen A. Barlow was born in 1844 [C1855-60]. She was recorded with her parents in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses.

v.
Sarah J. Barlow was born in 1847 [C1855] or 1848 [C1860]. She was recorded with her parents in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses.

vi. Frances A. Barlow was born in 1851 [C1855-60]. She was recorded with her parents in the 1855 and 1860 censuses.

Henry (Harry) Barlow was born on March 16, 1816 [GR], probably at Stamford, New York, and was a son of 1. Jabez Barlow and Mary (Polly) Edmonds. He was a farmer at Stamford and was recorded there in the 1850, 1855 and 1860 censuses. He owned 126 acres according to the 1855 census. He died on June 3, 1881, at age 65 years 3 months at Stamford and was buried there in the Locust Hill Cemetery.

Henry Barlow married Angeline Lyon on January 8, 1845 [Delaware Gazette] probably at Stamford. She was born in 1818 and was a daughter of Levi Lyon of Stamford. She died on September 7, 1906, at age 88 at Stamford and was buried there in the Locust Hill Cemetery.

Their children, all probably born at Stamford, were:

i.
Jabez H. Barlow was born in 1848 [GR] or 1849 [C1855-60]. He died in 1940 [GR] probably at Stamford and was buried there in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
He married Elizabeth (Libbie) H. Taylor on February 25, 1873, at Stamford [Stamford Recorder].
She was born in 1849 [GR]. She died in 1929 [GR] and was buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
Their children were: Harry Wheeler Barlow who died on July 31, 1872 [?], and Florence May Barlow who died on February 04, 1883, at age 3 years 1 month; both buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery.

ii. Mary E. Barlow was born in 1851 [C1855-60].

iii.
Oscar Burgin Barlow was born in 1854 [C1855-60]. He was baptized on June 29, 1883 [CH], as an adult, age about 30.
He married Rosalia Bonham Newcomb on December 14, 1876, in the village of Hobart in the town of Stamford [Stamford Recorder].
Their child was Nellie Alida Barlow who was born on July 25, 1880, at Hobart [CH] and was baptized there in St. Peters Episcopal Church on June 24, 1883 [CH].

iv. Orrin B. Barlow was born in 1854 [C1855-60].

v.
Roswell L. Barlow was born in 1856 [C1860]. He died on October 31, 1932.
He married Mary Ann Barlow on September 24, 1884, at Hobart [CH]. She was born in 1855 and was a daughter of George and Mary Philena (Taylor) Barlow, who were descended from a different Barlow line. She died in 1907 and both were buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
Their children were: Helen Mary Barlow, who was born on October 20, 1886, at Stamford [CH], baptized on December 9, 1886 [CH], died in 1887, and was buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery; and George Burr Barlow, who was born on September 30, 1885, at Hobart [CH], baptized on April 10, 1886 [CH], died in 1956, and was buried in the Locust Hill Cemetery.

John Griffin Barlow was born in 1827 [C1850-55] or in 1828 [C1860] in New York, probably at Stamford, and was a son of 1. Jabez Barlow and Mary (Polly) Edmonds.
He was baptized on October 10, 1881, as an adult at the bedside of his daughter Anna who was ill [CH]. He died on March 01, 1886, at age 58, probably at Stamford, and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.

John Griffin Barlow farmed 160 acres at Stamford, according to the 1855 census. He planted 1 acre in wheat, 12 acres in oats, 2 acres in rye, 4 acres in buckwheat, 2 acres in corn and 1 acre in potatoes. He had 2 oxen, 13 milk cows, 3 horses, 2 pigs and 2 sheep.

John Griffin Barlow married Betsey Silliman on September 22, 1852, at the home of her mother Mrs. Ebenezer Silliman at Stamford. Betsey Silliman was born in 1831 in New York [C1855- 60], probably at Stamford. She died on October 27, 1892, at age 61 at Stamford and was buried there in the Town Brook Cemetery.

Their children, all baptized at St. Peters Episcopal Church at Hobart [CH], were:

i.
Roderick H. Barlow was born in 1854 [C1855] or 1853 [C1860], and was baptized on September 03, 1858.

ii.
Albert Silliman Barlow was born in 1855 [C1860] and was baptized on September 03, 1858.
He married Emily Beers on October 04, 1882. She was born in 1862 and was a daughter of Joshua and Sarah Beers. Their child was Ann Elizabeth Barlow who was baptized on June 07, 1885, at St. Peters Episcopal Church at Hobart [CH].

iii. Anne Silliman Barlow was born in 1858 [C1860] and was baptized on September 03, 1858.
She died on October 31, 1881, and was buried in the Town Brook Cemetery at Stamford.

iv.
Ida Barlow was born in 1862 and was baptized on July 04, 1862.

v. Fanny Barlow was born on August 06, 1864 [CH], and was baptized on March 01, 1865.

vi. Catharine Barlow was born on November 13, 1870, and was baptized on October 08, 1871.
