The estate comprised of 697 acres 2 rods 38 perches (Statute measure) in Rosmilan, Cartrons and Shanvaladen. Trustees of last will of John Barlow late of Bushy Park, Co Roscommon Deed of Marriage Settlement dated 2/4/1846 between Ralph Montague Smyth of Harrington St., Dublin, Solicitor (1st) and Elizabeth Charlotte Barlow of Parsonstown, Kings Co. (2nd). A memorial of Deed of Settlement on marr. of John Barlow with Miss Margaret Fetherston dated 12/2/1846 between John Barlow of Hazelbrook, Co Roscommon (1st) and Margaret Fetherston of Pembroke St., Dublin. One of the younger children ofTheobald Fetherston formerly of Mosstown, Co Westmeath, Cuthbert F. of Dardistown, Co West-meath, heir at law of Theobald F., James Barlow of Bushy Park, Co. Roscommon and Theobald F. of Newgrove, Co Tipperary. The other initially came over from England. When a Barlow from Derbyshire went to be Gardener to the Shiels family of Kilbegnet House in approximately 1825. (1856 - Griffiths Primary Valuation:Shiels; Rosmoylan).He lived near Kilbegnet House. The family of his son (or possibly grandson) was evicted from house to a cottage on the edge of bog in Rosmoylan. The next generation were: John, born 1854 and died 1933; Maria; Margaret; Annie; Pat; James; William; Ellen Ellen married a local Farmer Muldoon but died soon after. The other girls went to America. Maria and Margaret lived at Woonsocket Rhode, Island. They both were Dressmakers but never married and died in 1944. Annie was also a Dressmaker and married late in life to a widower with a family of nine. They lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts All the boys eventually emigrated to England. Pat and Jim went to Liverpool. Pat married and had a Pub. Jim later went to America and had at least two daughters, Margaret and Celesta. William lived and died (1933) at 16 Hazylett (?) Road, Kensington, West London. He had a daughter May (Mrs. Pond or Bond) and a son William (Billy). Billy married and lived in Merton Park. John had four sons and one daughter. One son James was born in 1909. He came to Manchester, England in 1933 and worked as a Joiner. James had two sons and three daughters all married and living in/near Manchester. He had at least eleven grandchildren. This information is from a letter written, by James Barlow (as above) of Manchester, England, in 1988. Thursday, November 22, 2001 Edward Barlow, youngest son of Captain John Barlow of Bushy Park, Co Roscommon and Rosmilan Park, Co Galway moved to Port Phillip. Barlow m.
